Re: KS3 City builder fans -- how will you be using Lowtown?

I recently pulled out my CBS for an inventory check and I have a lot more than I remembered, especially terra cotta roofs. I'm getting about a dozen packs with the goal to add let enhancements to several of my buildings: Ivy on 1-2 stone buildings Large outdoor balcony on another building Wood upper...

Re: Elven Trading Post thoughts?

I've always been a proponent of Dwarven Forge adding small accessory packs to make buildings look unique. Regardless of how Elven it does or doesn't look, I like that you can pick up a couple of those painted facade packs for $100 (or $60 unpainted) to dress up a building to look unique. If not the ...

Re: Mezzanine pack

I find the Mezzanine pack to be very restrictive: it looks designed to make a 2x8 Mezzanine inside a 2-storey building, and that's it. The railing and stairs make it look like you could also mix it in with your scaffolding as an exterior balcony (and I suppose you could) but the 2x4 floors will not ...

Re: Cheaper midtown merchants option

I've done very similar analysis for that landmark. The other Landmark sub-component pack I consider overkill is the stair pack. You can easily cut it out and move the entrances to the ground floor, or pick up a couple of cheaper stairs in the rope bridge pack (which gives you a nice piece for your W...

Re: KS8 seawalls vs. KS5 elevation

I saw someone post a port build using KS3 sewer walls as sea walls and I thought they looked great.

I do think the LT seawalls look slightly better than other sea walls using legacy pieces, but the visual improvement is not big enough for me to need to get them.

Re: Reworking existing KS3 pieces?

The no-brainer for me will be drilling holes in a few of my fieldstone posts so I can add Ivy to my existing fieldstone buildings. That's a really cheap way to add some nice-looking character to existing CBS stuff.

Re: Thoughts on the new Ashlar paint scheme

Funny, I like the new scheme better. The challenge for me is the distinctness of the Ashlar. I can't see having more than one of those buildings on the table for my typical builds due to the fancy design. Of course a government complex, temple complex, etc. would be the exception. Same for me. The ...

Re: Grid Gate is Over

I'm fairly indifferent too, except that I might have just bet on the wrong horse. Up until this KS, I've used battlmats with printed terrain (grassland, ocean, cobblestone) or textures (lava, water, acid) that I color-printed myself. I told feel tied to only DF for negative space options. Someone al...

Re: Grid Gate is Over

Wildlands was my first foray into DF trays and battle maps - I got all gridded. I was planning out what I wanted to get when Wildlands hits the store - I guess I'll need to prioritize more gridded stuff I might want. My group was like many gaming groups - we used a basic grid map that the DM drew on...

Re: What would it take to get you to buy (more) textured terrain mats?

I got one swamp mat to check them out, and I really liked it. I might get more textured mats when they hit the webstore. No complaints with the mat itself. I voted better packaging, because DF normally has great packaging and that mini-dowel was weird and gave everyone a mat that started wrinkled.
