I went for the Timber Framed home (2 buildings). Size looks compatible to DF and should give some nice variety in a village/town.

Turnkey Miniatures has a line of animals. Keep in mind that all of their minis are 25mm scale. But for dogs and cats it shouldn’t be an issue.
