Yeah, I think they'll be fine just stored vertically without the plastic clamshell, but I also wouldn't put anything on top of them.

Green LEDs in general have a much higher light output at the same input voltage compared other colors. If you have any of the light pods/RGB tea lights that RealFX shipped with the Fog Monster, you'll find that at a given setting some colors are "ahh that's nice" in a dark room and then you flip to ...
