Re: KS3 Painting Guide Errors?

Have you seen the KS3 Paint Test Run thread. There are some amazingly painted streets in there by pacarat. Best, Jenney Yeah. I saw that. It's what inspired me to try different colors for the big stones. I just don't seem to have the acrylic colors necessary to recreate the brickwork there. When I ...

Re: A - THE KS-IV PATROL HQ

If we have another issue with 'grids' or 'sizes' it would be good to have a formal statement - probably right there in the FAQ. That way, people can like it or not, but they'll accept a decision has been made. Up until making decisions like that opinions should be solicited, but after that... For in...

Re: KS3 Painting Guide Errors?

I thought I'd give an update now that I'm on the streets pack. This started with spots painted with Cardboard (darker grey). Mostly filling in the dot things and the crevices. IMG_0694.jpg The large rocks were alternately painted with more generous Earth Stone (which looks olive to me) and Cobblesto...

Re: Official Teaser #3

This is a very nice set. I'm very excited about it... as soon as I saw the mockup I said, "Yup. Without question we have to have this!" I was thinking about the exact thing as FelixDraconis... in fact, I was just starting to look at alternatives - namely, Hirst Arts hex molds and had been...

Re: Official Teaser #3

Cool. I have trouble visualizing how this piece works, but this is the kind of organic sculpting that makes me excited. It's so unlike most anything else out there. Presumably this adds some elevation blocks (or reuses them) from caverns and adds more decoration pieces to add to the side of the elev...

Re: KS3 Painting Guide Errors?

A couple thoughts about mixing colors: One thing I like about Vallejo is the dropper top design they have, they are pretty consistent for the amount that comes out so you can jot down notes on the amount you use. You can get dropper bottles to pour other paints into if you like. I have not done thi...

Re: KS3 Painting Guide Errors?

Also it is interesting that you think the bricks on the PDF look "bright orange". I my monitor they look brick red prior to the cardboard dry brush and then more of a muted dusty red after. They never look orange to me, but I know that every monitor is different. I realize that I'm compar...

Re: KS3 Painting Guide Errors?

Ah! I'll share another thing I learned while doing these. Place them all flat out next to each other when doing color. This way you'll brush them more consistently across all the different pieces. It also prompts you to align them facing the same direction. Assuming they have directionality. The fir...

Re: KS3 Painting Guide Errors?

Okay! Here's some updated attempts. This is with a Gold Oxide from Jo Sonja. It's the closest thing to terra-cotta I can find. I applied the orange in patches to add a little extra inconsistency. There's an orange/red hyena for comparison. IMG_0689.jpg This is after a very, very, very light dry brus...
