Contest lured me out of lurking. . . but with only 25 pieces, I only managed 1/4 of a castle tower.

Re: Experimenting with other marble colors
Oh wow, dice4hire, you did the whole top of your elevation box in marble! That must have taken quite some time (and paint)! It looks very royal and fancy with goldish looking streaks. As you notice, it is hard to see much detail on my purple columns. It has darker streaks and some light almost white...

Re: Experimenting with other marble colors
I’ve done a little bit of glazing before and I did try that a bit in my original test pieces. I think it would work better with the columns than the floor pieces since the floor surface is actually pretty rough. Getting the glaze into all the cracks feels a bit like doing a wash, which I don’t want ...

Re: Anyone else painting temple walls and pillars?
Thanks madrigalian and pacarat! Sandstone sounds like a good choice for a forgotten temple. Probably in more of an arid wasteland? I’m imagining my lost temple to possibly be in the jungle. I hope to see pics of the sandstone walls eventually. I finished the pieces last night (and was up way too lat...

Anyone else painting temple walls and pillars?
Today the fourth and final shipment of my KS5 arrived. It was a small package with a tiny box of just the temple walls and pillars in it. Unpainted. Opened it up and WOW! Love the details on these! Are they a Lady Sabelle creation? Kudos for a tiny master piece! The walls are so impressive and the p...

Re: Experimenting with other marble colors
I was suitably motivated by D4h to dive into the green (and black) marble and came up with these: 201FDC97-5F60-4C32-954C-EF91DC65C633.jpeg B9ACD31B-B4E5-4EAA-A5D1-D5DBE9EB397C.jpeg Followed much of Lady Sabelle’s black marble tutorial for the black, though I also has stipples of reaper stone gray a...

Re: Experimenting with other marble colors
Cool dice4hire! They look good and should make a great encounter area all together. Is that metallic gold streaks I see in there? I wouldn’t have thought of that, but now that I do, I could see trying that. My own granite counters have some bits that are shinier and almost look silver. <allows idea ...

Re: Experimenting with other marble colors
Trying to take all the advice and Lady S tutorials and apply them to my small columns. I did not go for the purple yet. I definitely will later. I tried black marble and the green. I think I like my work on the green better. Probably because I used a larger number of different colors. So I can go ba...
