I'm on the side of things where I wish this was not happening. I agree, no revenue and splitting their energies into something most of us don't have time for.

Would rather the money was spent on warehouse space.

Just my opinion.
They are trying to grow their brand, it's a fairly low expense (setting up a Twitch stream is a LOT less than warehouse space in the Northeast USA), and popular Twitch channels can actually *generate* revenue. I'd bet this will at least be revenue neutral when all is said and done.

As a forum we have somewhat asked for this.

More communication, more advertising, we all know that us die hard DooFers are not going to be enough to keep DF going in the years to come.

so why not jump onto the Twitch bandwagon, we have watched some previous DF related twitch shenanigans.
Do not watch anything else though, we stick to youtube for our batrep fixes.

Looking forward to this immensely :)

I agree, having a face to put to a company is nice.

I like the way how Reaper is doing there twitch streams.

Talk about things of the week, show cool stuff from customers, tell some stuff about ongoing projects.

Present your self as the tangible joe average neighbor instead of rockstars..

It's not for me, but I think it's a useful endeavor.
This helps make DF a presence in the (booming) 5e gaming community. Shoulder to shoulder with the big players.

Also, I think it's funny that they have a show.

Another thing I would like is Dwarven Forge using its industry leverage to get D&D / Gaming celebrities. Interview them. Play games with them. Have them build something and explain it.

I also think it would be fun to have a hidden upcoming piece somewhere in the background. Have it change every 2-4 weeks or something. It would be really fun for us at the forum to try to figure out what it is.

Truth be told, I would prefer something like a Vlog than a Twitch stream, but I'm not your target market for getting new players into the fold. I'm already hooked so...

It has much more to do with bringing in new customers than a resource for existing customers. I suspect the average DF purchaser falls into a very narrow group of customer. Trying to expand that clientele into a younger generation is a smart move, especially with the uptick of D&D sales in recent years. Point being is that it's about new people not us grognards :P.

I believe there's a tipping point with DF customers... if you own just a few pieces, its something to enhance your game slightly. But at some point when you have enough that a big chunk of your encounters use them, encounters without them just seem unfinished. That's when they got you. Trying to expand that number is the big hook for them and I hope this Twitch thing will help them get there.

As far as the typical DF'er I assume they're mostly white male Gen-X'er with some Millenials thrown in there.
