As a DF newbie, I just backed the 2-set painted level (which is really more like three now). I'm glad painted is an option because I just don't have the time to paint it myself.

This kickstarter has me pretty stoked. For a few years I've wanted some DF terrain, especially whenever I'd see it at Gen Con, but I just couldn't get past the cost for a reasonable starter set, so I'd settled for building cardstock terrain which, while nice for what it is, does not have the impact of Dwarven Forge stuff.

Now with the roughly three sets I can at least build some nice encounter areas. Also, the cardstock accessories I've put together can really flesh the dungeon out.

Woo hoo! My gaming group is gonna flip when I break this stuff out...

Thanks. I know, and it certainly is good to remind everyone of that.

My specific issue is that I won't know for a little while exactly how much I can scrape together in time so I wouldn't want to pledge more than I can actually afford. And also, still dying to order HS2!

I still have to work out my money situation (balancing getting the most out of my KS pledge but leaving enough for a HS2 order), so my pledge will ikely be on the later side. Hopefully there's enough people like me pledging late in the game that help push to that one last goal (whatever that one last goal ends up being).

Not sure if you knew, but just in case, a reminder to all:

Kickstarter does not charge you until the campaign ends. So you can pledge now and you still have over a month to get the money together. :)

Im curious to see what the $400,000 stretch goal is going to be. Oh, the suspense is killing me!

As a longtime collector (and owner of over 30 sets) I find myself wondering just how many of these sets I need. For instance, if I go in for 5 and the stretch goals eventually double that amount, that really is way too many pieces than I actually need. For a first time buyer its a great deal. For an existing customer with lots of sets, a little less so.

In a weird way, all of the extra pieces have me downgrading the amount of sets Ill order (after I get paid next week, that is). I just already have so many walls and floors as it is.

Im assuming the price for the metal molds to make these is rather high so expecting many new pieces is kind of wishful thinking. I hope Im wrong but I somehow doubt it. As someone already mentioned, the workaround may be adding resin pieces but that may not be financially feasible.

At any rate, Im really happy this is doing so well. As a way to introduce people to the world of DF I think its a wonderful idea.

And some more pics of these new pieces next to the resin pieces would be great.

Of course if the Kickstarter is really successful, brings in many new customers, and people really like the new material, I'm sure Dwarven Forge might consider offering other types of sets in the future like Medieval Building sets, etc. in the new material if they can figure out how to produce it at an effective price point and with good quality.

KenM (and still many others apparently),

It has been repeatedly said elsewhere. Both the (1) Game Tiles/Dwarvenite and (2) Mastermaze/Polystone products are different and separate. The first one uses cheaper material that necessitates very expensive molds. The second uses expensive resin that necessitates the use of cheaper molds. So, Game Tiles is a product to bring a new "classical" product that is cheap and can be made in insanely huge quantities and be available to gamers with a lower budget. The classical mastermaze will still be available as there is no way there will be a demand big enough for ROTA, MBS, DOE, etc... that would allow these to be made in dwarvenite and be a profitable endeavor. The profit made by the Game Tiles will be re-invested in re-stocks of classical polystone products as well as design of new sets. Furthermore, Game Tiles might "hook" new people which would help increase the sustainable critical mass of customers necessary to keep DF running.

Are the sets that have been out going to be re made with this lighter material? Or will those always be mad witht he orginal material?
