Well ... I can try to get formulas for you, but I would say that if you were willing to buy these unpainted, you probably already have an artistic streak in you, whether you realize that or not. You might paint a piece and say to yourself: "Self, I really think this would look cooler with little different color for that," and there is nothing wrong with that. This is your City. Make it your own!

:D

Happy painting! I hope you can get to it before next winter!

He does, he just doesn't realize it.

I am one of those... I don't do colors very well... I will waste a lot of paint trying to get the color right, once I get an actual sample. A recipe (or Math, as he calls it) is my ally when it comes to things like this.

For me the point is moot anyway. As things are shaping up, it doesn't look like I will have time to try any painting until well after the premixes get here. Most of my winter projects are going to be put on hold until next winter... is amazing how quickly real life fills up time. :(

Thanks for asking, Suzy! I do appreciate it.

Thanks!

Not all paints are created equal either; depending on the pigment type and density precise directions for quantities could give you the wrong results. You really have to learn to eyeball paints for mixing, IMO.

I have to admit that I did get a look at the guide a few days early and didn't catch that either because I paint like Nina and Stefan. But in retrospect it does make a lot of sense to try and be precise for those who may not have a lot of painting experience.

Thanks for the feedback!

We had some ratios worked out, but we thought it best to explain it this way ... Stefan and Nina don't paint using math! When we say " add a few drops" it will really depend on the amount of the first color that you start with ... then add a drop until it looks like the color you are trying to achieve. I hope this is helpful!

Thanks!

The guides are excellent! Thanks!

The paint mixing is a bit unprecise... The equal parts is good... but "a few drops" of black... how many is a few (I suppose most folk will say 3)? But how much of the equal parts are you adding a few drops to? I might be purchasing some pre-painted items in the future and will want them to match as closely as possible... I guess I will just have to have patience and wait for either 1) the pre-mixed colors to come in March, or 2) for me to buy some pre-painted items and for delivery to match color with. <sigh>

I do appreciate the painting guides!

Thank you!
