Terrain tray enhancements are a good idea. If they were small enough they could go on magnetic walls and corners also. Something like a void hole, or a protruding bit of something would look good. I am hoping for some kind of a chasm pack but magnetic and intended to stick to walls and such.

We suggest a little while back that DF could do some rather cool effects overlays on their terrain trays such as whirpools, ominous ripples etc.

We thought they could be made like a flexible fridge magnet. Hoping for more of these style terrain tray enhancements.

We are now thinking of what cool effect could be achieved with vertical terrain trays.

DF could provide a texture that gives you a vertical Cliff face or dungeon/castle wall add some feet to hold it upright - additiaonl carrots could be used to prop it up.

With magnetised effects and carrots you could easily create your mines of Moria

You could use edge pieces to create a massive (or non massive) portal showing the void (or anything you want) then when activated you slap on your whirling vortex of doom and 100's of face eating gribblies teleport through.
That whirlpool was actually something I painted on an old fruit container lid at around 10:30pm the Night before Nate was leaving. I'm not sure if it or something like it will make the final cut. I really really like your idea of little magnetized effects to stick on the terrain trays. I will suggest this to Nate.

The Cavern of Ruin was just the name of that particular encounter that had the Dungeon of Doom style ruin. There are actually a few new ones I did this year that weren't among any of the pics of ruins from last year. Some very interesting things happening with floors and doorways!

Love how it was a kit bash at short notice - fabulous job.

Pretty certain players will be making their own if DF don't do it :)
We will be looking into it as they will help narrative game play, love the idea of making a 'what lurks beneath' water ripple.

Imagine the players coming across a placid cavern lake and then seeing that ripple...... a paranoid party can be a funny party, especially as a DM all the creature is a overly excited cave guppy! :lol:

Woohoo! Very excited about the module. I’ve been teasing it as the capstone to my groups current campaign. They are level 6-7 now. Hopefully they won’t be much higher than 8 when the rest of the module is released and I receive the rest of the sets! Can’t wait to find out more about who Zaltar is, why he lured the players to the DOD, and what is his connection with Sysuul! (I’ve been running a Yuan-ti themed campaign with vague references to Sysuul as a teaser...)

We had a lot of fun with the play testing, we hope your players like it!
