Re: Greetings from the Forge: Part 3 Rise of the Greetings

Abby's first pic post on Twitter was of one of my (adult) son's builds - I posted the next campaign build he did on Assault on Drow House Stronghold in the Cool Pictures section of these forums. Here we were fighting against Graz'zt and his band of allies. The fight itself took about 3 hours without any special rules, just experienced players. We had 5 22 level chars. It was touch-n-go for a while, and 3/5 chars went down for portions of the fight, but all survived. It certainly didn't hurt that the Warlock was wielding Stormbringer at the time :D

The window pick was from a fight in my campaign Abby was in against some Wererats (I used old warhammer skaven pieces) that had taken over a manor house. The Castle Walls Pack with windows fit great with the DoD pieces I had used for the rest of the manor. Here are a couple more pics from my build. I did 3 levels with stairs that lined up with one another and the final battle spread over all three levels up and down the stairs - pretty cool. I used dais pieces for stairs up and some negative space stairs I printed off for stairs down. The basement I did in several pieces since I had secret doors all over the place there that they found in sequence. Most were built on my painted large metal sheets (love the magnets!).

We do love those whirlpools in Stefan's build and the owner of that Tower really does not want any Cold Callers.

Nice alternative build for Lava Bridge from Abbey :)

As a DM I can't fathom how long the combat rounds took for that battle... I hope they had some sort of ruleset for mass combat instead of normal rules. That's a lot of higher level monsters too, with spells and other effects they could be doing.
Well depending on the level of the campaign, a lot of those critters could be toasted quite quickly. A few higher level spells from PC's and lots of mobs are no more (Consider the impact of a high level cleric and Holy Word on a 40' radius!). It is also not truly clear if it was a handful of PC's versus the entire map, or the PC's had allies that are also seen on the map. In that case as a DM I would have prerolled out some of the mob vs ally results so they could just be storyboarded and told the results, while the PC's deal with the true BBEGuys on the left side of the map.

There are a mix and demons and devils that I can see and some morally ambiguous groups might be willing to work with one faction action the other for a greater goal. IN any case that is a cool map and crowded pit of hell for the characters to play in. Nice.

Today we have a build from Abbey Walker (@Aawalker1019 on twitter)
"My DM loves using your pieces and it creates for fabulous battles, so I thank you :) In appreciation, here’s one battle we fought that was crazy and here’s a cool battle shot through a window." -Abbey

That's a lot of whirlpools! :o

Did you guys cut a croc in half? Submerged minis could be a cool niche DF could fill.... ;)
Yeah the partially submerged croc was a bit of surgery I did on a regular one for an unreleased video we made during KS4.

Seems to be a little political to me.

Plug that hole,... Build That Wall. :?

Hmmm :?:

EDIT - I wasn't meaning to end conversation.
