The eternal problem of DF is douan tax.
Under 150€, you have less chances they stop your package and pay the tax.
That's why one set is ok but 2 and it's finished.
A european distributor is needed or a direct shipping from China to customers.

Hi Tanus,

I have ordered to Norway as well and I feel your extreme pain regarding the taxation. I do have one suggestion in mind and this will help. BUY IN BIGGER BULK. The shipping costs are going to be a lot no matter what, so to get the most bang for you buck, buy in bulk. Why? The shipping costs will be around the same if you order is for Dwarven Forge stuff is 300 $ or 800 $. Try to get close to the 70 lb limit, or roughly little less than 33 kg. Most likely you are like me and want to get more Dwarven Forge stuff so you loose money on buying smaller packages more frequently rather than fewer packages but much much larger!

Hi Tanus!

I'm glad you like DF products as we all do. The problem I believe is that many DF clients do not realize how small this company really is. There are basically 2 employees: (1) Stefan, the master sculptor from New-York and (2) Jeff that manages orders from Illinois. Since these guys have lives and jobs of their own, they outsourced production to a firm in China and they also outsourced distribution to some big warehouse probably in California. These 2 great guys can't ask a legit big distribution center to alter shipments' information. On the other hand, and it has been done before, you can ask an American friend of yours to buy them for you and later ship them to you (given that you can trust him)... Anyhow, as a hardcore D&D gamer whose description pretty much fits yours, do not hesitate getting into Dwarven Forge products! You won't regret it.

I feel your pain, but I don't think there is a lot they can do. As a business I shouldn't think they can send items as 'gifts' for account purposes.

in the last month I have placed 4 large orders for goods of $3692, but on top of that there was also $873 shipping to England and then $1190 of customs/tax, for a grand total of $5755.

It pretty much works out that a $120 set is near enough £120 so i just swap the $ for a £ and get a rough idea how much it will cost me.

I still think it is worth it as DF products are in a league of their own, and when they get in some more stocks of the products that weren't available I shall be placing another order.

Huge order cost concern

Post by Tanus » Wed Apr 20, 2011 8:02 am

Hello DF and thanks for a really high quality product, i got a 300 dollar presant worth of products as a gift few months back, and was thinking about expanding my inventory.

Only have one concern, i am from norway, the land of taxes and from far away.

So the 300 dollar order i got actually cost close to 600 dollars to get to me with shipment and taxes, shipment cant be avoided i understand but is there anyway to avoid the taxes? Maybe if its shipped as a presant or something.

Want to know if theres anything you guys at DF can do to help a man out, cuz i have a shopping list now that contains a order between 1100-1200 dollars, but i dread ordering thinking its gonna cost me well over 2000 dollars total just to get it to my house.

So in reality if i want to spend 1200 dollars on products atm all i can order for is between 500-600 dollars from your shop, i still get things but as i see it its not only me that comes out short, also you guys loose a big profit.

I play with a steady group of friends, we have played D&D up to version4, now its mostly pathfinder, but also played most of White Wolf games and merc, hysteria, paranoia, list goes on and on, this over a 20 year period, so we are fanatic geeks of sorts, but we just now started with terrain and miniatures, and we are all grown men with ok income and i do belive we got around 300 RPG books from diff games, so now that we have started with terrain and likes i do belive we will go overboard with that aswell.

I can see us spending around 10000 dollars at your store over the next 2 years, but i ofcourse want as much products for that as i can, so IF we can avoid some of the taxes please contact me on phone or on email, would benefit both parties. ( taxes in norway for this kinda thing is 25% just to bring over border, thats a direct shit tax that comes out of DF profits.

Have a nice eastern holidays and hope to hear from you guys soon, best regards Tanus
