Tons of great stuff here, looks like an awesome game.I particularly like all the spooky photos lit by LEDs. I'm not familiar with the Death House story, but by its name I assume this spooky setup captured the mood perfectly.

As others have said, the use of the slate roof atop the gatehouse looks great. Definitely stealing that idea.

I'm impressed you got through such a large setup in 4 hours.

This thread has convinced me I need a gatehouse, even though I don't have a castle. Those peaked arches make a great looking main entry doorway to buildings. Thanks szabbran, now I have to add to the list... yikes. ;)

What I saw right away was the gatehouse roof as well. My favorite part. Very nicely done. I’ll likely be borrowing that.

Death House is truly rough. We started it out when we first began Curse of Strahd, and it ended in a total party wipe. The party restarted, I did a separate adventure to get them to level 3, and they have been doing quite well in Barovia so far.

Love the house. Thanks for the pics.

Here are a few more pictures on the subject for you kitenerd, since you are planning a go at it. There might be more out there, these were too big to post and needed resizing. The original names had numbers 1, 3 and 7 after Escher -, so there should be more to fill in the gaps(?).

Sci fi looks AMAZING in B&W - they look like entirely different pieces!

I am going to print the MC Escher pic and see if i can recreate it - too cool!

Going back to the orginal build - i love the compactness of the Death House - it seems like a Castle got smushed and squirted up vertically - very imposing that way

Another thing that’s just hitting me about why this design works so well and is so arresting: the crenellations at the BOTTOM of the gatehouse instead of at the top. They form a kind of patio wall instead of a high wall barrier, sets off the large entry in a very compelling way.

The Escher stairways. That's the best part. The Escher stairways.

Oh, and here’s a link to a thread with other IO photosets, for any newbies who missed out on his genius. There’ll never be another IO.
