Naeblis Dwarven Forge Universe

Post by Naeblis » Sat Dec 22, 2018 11:33 pm

Hi all,

My name is Thom and i am a Forge-A-holic. I got introduced to Dwarven forge last year for kS5. I put in a sizable order and figured that was that. Ha boy was I wrong. So this year for KS6 I initially placed a larger order, then started planning my build out. And that’s were the trouble started.

When you're cruising down the fast lane of Dwarven Forge builds and you lazily sail past a few hard-driving pledges and are feeling pretty pleased with yourself and then accidentally change down from fourth to first instead of third thus making your engine leap out of your hood in a rather ugly mess, it tends to throw you off stride in much the same way as thinking you are doing a large build then finding pictures of Sorns builds. i can just hear the laughing about my comments on big orders.

Go big or go home, well since I am at home guess I am going big. After some time spent in figuring out how to cram a much ft sq into a the living room, and eventually taking up 2 feet of entry way I arriveed at the table below. The main table is 196 x 85. I started to calculate how much the castle, city etc was going to weigh. Wanted to make sure the table was beefey enough. Well i figured 2 metric F tons should do it. Each 85 x 48 piece of 1.25 inch flooring plywood rests on 7 or 8 saw horses. so today I visted the home improvement store (this is improving the home right?) emptied the living room and away we go

The wall is still in route so the 1st part of the build is going to be 6 or 7 imperial streets.

As a certain Australian outback personality would say, "Now that's a table!"

Either the rest of the household plays or you have a very understanding family to commandeer that room with that much DF.

Did you attach the 4 sheets of plywood together in any way to avoid slippage? I know I used some ties to keep the legs of my four table together for that reason. (Although my tables are only 2.5 x 5 foot each for a 10 x 5 play/build area. You have a 16 x 7 foot working space. I was going to mention, reaching the middle can be a challenge with that much of a span.

Very understanding family. sadly I don’t even have a group (yet)

The plywood is 1 1/4“ flooring plywood that has a lip and groove. We used enough saw horses to support the 2 metric butt tons of Dwarvenite (hopefully)

I measured how far several people could reach. It was 44 inches. We doubled that and took off a bit to get the 85” width for this table. We used 43” for the upper table (Not shown 1/2 the size). And lastly we left 20” of walk space

I would love to be this bold and large (if I had enough DF to fill such an enormous table).

But I'm afraid my gaming group are too lazy to stand while playing.

So I'll just have to appreciate your ambition, and please keep photos coming as you build on that massive surface.

I agree 100%. The gaming room is upstairs. This is just the city / castle / world map.
