I think I am going to build lengthwise on my table instead of crosswise. That will give me some more room for first floor rooms.
I set up a single 3' wide flat panel door to build on, but think I need two (6' wide) for the expansion of width at upper levels. I really think I'll be late getting this done, but does it even matter in the "competition"?

I haven't had a chance to make a build of my own yet, so I outsourced to child labor. ;) A small build but I liked the way the girls used Erinthor floors and CBS floors; they always do things I never imagine.

I opened the well up a little to add some playablity. I am having a little trouble with motivation for interning the dead in your drinking water. May be I should add a snake temple.

Water or fire spirits maybe?

Wow! All these builds are outstanding. What a great idea for a theme build.

I'm going to have to think of a reason to put something like this in my next adventure.

Thanks for the idea Astolat & Szabbran, and for sharing all these great images everyone!

As assigned: Ancient Haunted Stepwell in a Jungle.
Just wandered back through and found this. I especially love the ruined section. Extremely evocative. I want to know all about this place and why a party of sacrifices, I mean adventurers, are here!

My humble addition. I wanted to build something relatively simple because (a) it is good to remember how good the basic pieces are, and (b) I don't have that many pieces of any given type (other than Castle, oh god I have so much Castle).

I also wanted to see what I could do with the pile of wooden blocks I've amassed.

Having said all that, I was reading that many stepwells have tombs built in, and that they are often connected underground to various things. Thought that was a genuinely cool building idea. I present here my late-summer stepwell, mostly drained exposing a normally submerged channel.

A typical late summer's stepwell scene. A handful of citizens descend the steps to fetch water while guards stand by to enforce rationing.

The steps are steep and rough, this being a poorer quarter of the city. A mysterious hand has appeared in the water and beckons towards the onlookers. What could it portend?

Perhaps the nefarious doings in the connected tomb have something to do with the magical hand? Villanious wererats seem to be doing something sneaky in the sealed tomb of Saint Herizen.

I'd like to close with a comment on DF's miniatures. I LOVE THEM, but a lot of them (especially the older ones) have dark muddy color schemes. This looks great in person and really fits the tiles but makes photography a real pain.

Looking great there OMW.
I was thinking ;"Why the crane, is it for dunking people?".
But now with the townies and barrels, I 'get-it' more. ;)
I am going to add a rope and cargo net with barrels to the crane. It seems to me a well would be a great place to gather. I am going to add some fruit stands too.
