Very nicely done! The use of the water tiles is inspiring -- I will need to borrow that idea!

First Game with DF

Post by Feymous » Fri May 31, 2013 12:29 am

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that after a year of collecting DF I still hadn’t used it in a game. For the past year I’ve been fortunate to play in a friend’s wonderful campaign, but the logistics never worked to use DF in a game I wasn’t running. Now that it’s my turn in the DM chair again I was excited to see how DF would perform in game (it’s certainly fun to just build with).

Since I’m a little rusty on DMing, I decided to ease into it with a readymade Pathfinder adventure, Hollow’s Last Hope (spoiler alert). Below is my take on the dungeon appearing in that module. It’s a relatively small dungeon, but it really added something special to the game. The verdict is in… RPG + DF = PURE AWESOME! (I’m sure no one, including me, is surprised by this finding)

Our adventure begins in the small village of Falcon’s Hollow, where the residents have been stricken with a deadly illness. The local herbalist enlists the heroes to recover three rare ingredients, with which she believes an antidote can be brewed. After recovering two of the ingredients deep within the Darkmooon Vale, the party journeys to a long abandoned dwarven monastery, where they hope to find the final ingredient; ironbloom mushrooms. However, as our heroes soon discover, the monastery is not as abandoned as they believed…
