And another session was had by all.

This time the party had been advised by the god of knowledge, secrets and [REDACTED], [REDACTED] and of course [REDACTED] told the party they needed a bit of knowledge in a cultist stronghold before they went to the tower of the elements to get the last piece of their snake robe set. As the gods expressed pretty strong indifference to the fate of the cultists, and said they were on the verge of getting on the gods bad side the party decided to take the mission. Kicking butt in the name of the gods being a honored position.

First the setup

And Kitenerds dragon present looming behind the characters

First the party had to cross the river and the very inviting bridge. Looking at the river and the bridge they found out the river was fast flowing and to the downstream side of the bridge half the river was sucked underground to somewhere unknown, making it quite treacherous. However the bridge had 6 creatures waiting in summoning traps so the party decided to brave the river.

Crossing the river went well even though the rogue was washed under the bridge and almost sucked underground. Luckily he was pulled out of the river by the other two characters, paragons of athletic prowess.

Then they were in the trees with the two knight statues guarding an entrance underground.

But then AMBUSH!!

Vines rose up from the forest floor and attacked the party, trying to root them to the ground, then into the ground and make them a permanent part of the local ecosystem. The party fought a bit but then used their green thumb blessings to convince the plants to plant something else.

But then something stepped from the statues

A pair of spectral wraith guardians came forth to do battle.

It was a bit of a vicious fight, but the party was victorious with not too much damage.

Entering the cavern the party encountered a human guard to warn the cultists their defenses had failed. Unfortunately he failed pretty well also and the party was able to put him down and enter easily.

Unfortunately for the party the cultists are into necromancy and noticed the demise of their guard. As the party rested and gathered their strength near the entrance four of the main cultists started a powerful ritual to summon something very awesomely nasty and sent their skeletal guardians into battle

The battle with the guardians was not too hard and the party got past them quickly enough to disrupt the ritual. first they caused the cultists to lose control of the ritual, saw three of the four get sucked into the resulting gate but saved the last one. Finally they slammed the gate shut on the entity that was trying to get through it to wreck havoc on this plane.

Pretty much a total victory.

After exploring and questioning the cult leader they got the info they needed and are on their way to the tower next.

Nice work d4h

Cant ever have enough trees :)
Well I am sure there is a tree event horizon just nowhere near here :)

Liking the variety even if a few should now be closer to chard black rather than pyro red ;)

NICE! - Glad somebody is productive!

I have a bunch and washed the snow off of half of them - still need to paint the bases and add washers (they are light and tippy), but i don't have a lot of time to craft - those trees were too good a deal to pass up so i bought a bunch, more than i needed - they were included as packing material ;)

love the variety - i was skiing this week and marveling at just how many shades of green pine trees are - not sure i saw any quite that red though ;)
You just need to let your inner pyromaniac out to play a bit more......

Those trees are really nice! I would never have considered using the reds and yellows like that. I have a big pack of the frosted trees... might have to try that.

Did you remove the snow first? Is the color just applied like dry brushing?

Thanks!
I picked up a bunch of trees like this on closeout from Walmart after Christmas. If these are exactly same as mine, then the white stuff comes right off with some water and a toothbrush.

If nothing else, giving those trees a range of color makes them all the more suitable fantasy setting. Will have to give that a serious consideration for the trees I have that are similar with their chunky white snow globs on them.

I did not remove the snow.

It wa a kinda wet drybrush, pretty much done lightly till all the white was gone. It was pretty easy. I did do the bases in brown after the pictures were taken.

Thanks

I am hoping to paint some of my dreadhollow in similar colors, not just green.

Those trees are neat - Good color sampling, Dice.
They should offer some nice contrast when mixed in with Dreadhollow (much like a real forest ;) ).
