The barred walls are from the Zealot Miniatures KS, originally. They now sell them on their site: http://zealotminiatures.com/zealot-shop ... y=23326032

Gluing two walls with the door in between is the perfect size to fit in the corner post slots of a CBS 4x4, as you can see in the pic. I had the prison bar end posts glued, originally, but I had to remove one to make them fit. With the CBS corner slots you don't have to bother with the prison bar end posts that come with it. I think it worked out perfectly for that prison area.
This is such a great idea! We'll see if I end up liking this better or the new DF prison bars better, or if it's situational. I hate when prison walls are just kind of floating there and love how these slot into the CBS slots.

Perhaps something DF could consider for KS7... ;)

It takes some effort to follow a map so closely. Very good job :D
Thanks, Oldent! :D

I also used LadySabelle's clothes press molds to make the (green stuff) pile of clothes in the prison, which is described in the module.

Funnily enough, there's quite a bit of beds in the map so I had to use almost all the beds I had (except one) from DF, Reaper and Zealot.

The coffins were from the Halloween sets you get at the craft store. I do have others I could have used from DF and reaper and other places, but I knew where those ones were, and they fit well in the space.

The racks of weapons in the small room off the crypt is from GriffinTamer's KS.

I used the magnetic corner posts from castles for the border of the cistern in the storage room area, with a 2x2 water tile underneath. Interestingly, I didn't really have anything else I could use, other than maybe the forge from Reaper, I guess.

I used DF dungeons, castles, CBS, caverns, and mountains to build out the whole map. So, I don't know if it's still a hot topic, but I can say that it's quite possible to integrate all the various sets into something that looks good. I can say that in this build I had minimal alignment/size issues.. they were negligible, especially in light of the other problems I was faced with; namely, trying to represent the map as accurately as possible, and trying to get the various heights/levels figured out (both, as previously mentioned).

The mountains boards with the peg holes came in very handy for the raised areas, as well as the Castles walls for the raised catwalk area. I didn't have enough of th 4x4 mountain floor pieces with pegholes so I used stone floors with the stair and trap door holes, putting them upside down so I could put the corners in the peg holes and use as raised platforms.

The Redbrand Hideout

Post by jchunick » Wed May 23, 2018 9:50 am

This is the next leg of my kid's adventure tonight using the D&D5e Starter Box module, The Lost Mine of Phandelver. This is my favourite build, so far, from the module. I will have to make a separate post of the Cragmaw Caverns, if anyone ìs interested.

Anyways, it took me 2.5 tries to get this one right due to it being multi-level and me reading the 2D map wrong. :-)

Here's the map, for reference:

Here's my version of it:
