This news literally knocked the wind out of me. Mike's creations still inspire me greatly and he has been so terribly missed already -- to now know he's never coming back, and the circumstances of his final months are heart-breaking.
I'm not sure how you found out about Mike's collection of DF forumites but I'm grateful you found us and shared this very private part of Mike's life.

I think I speak for everyone when I say you are always welcome here, Apocalypse Nerd

This is terrible news, but thank you for bringing it to us nonetheless. Also, as Anime has already said, welcome to the forums. I wish it were under better circumstances, but we are glad to have you join us. My condolences on the loss of a friend.

I am very sorry to hear this news. My condolences Apocolypse Nerd, for the passing of your friend. Mike’s enthusiasm for our hobby has inspired me for years. I have many of his photos saved and still enjoy looking at them.

Rest In Peace, Mike. You are not forgotten.

That's incredibly sad. I feel terrible for him. I somehow have the vague suspicion I may know at least one of his friends (particularly if he was in South Florida). But regardless, that's awful. RIP Mike.

So sad to read. Thanks for letting us know.

I agree his postings should all be fixed. And when each thread is fixed, DF could do a bump post as a notification they are fixed. Then we all could review them again and secure them for posterity. It would be nice.

Yes I was speechless when I heard the news. I had been trying to track him down and reconnect with Mike for years. But the mutual "friends" (more like acquaintances) where not very helpful because I found out they had tracked him down years before but were busy and had forgotten to tell me. Not that it would have changed the final outcome but part of me thinks/hopes it would have.

That aside I think we need to rally and hound the admins to fix all the broken threads with Mike's pictures so he can live on by inspiring folks for many, many more years.
