I like the water on the resin more and the large pieces are great but I prefer the more robust texture of the KS2 cavern floors.

They both are great and KS6 is making DF caverns even better.

I super love the resin ones, don't go mad for dwarvenite.

I just like the bigger pieces more.

From this KS, I'll try and get as many of the big pieces as possible.

Aesthetically there is no comparison for me. Resin wins, it’s just beautiful. A lot of that is because the pools of water look better in resin and the 4” footprint is one that I prefer. Also, due to the larger footprint, the resin sets have more interesting pieces. The S wall and small cave dead ends for example. But I still love my KS2 sets. I only did one game with only KS2 and didn’t like the setup. But when combined with my resin sets, KS2 lends a nice variety that just using the resin sets lacks. That is why I am quite happy with KS6. More variety for my builds!!
Which I believe makes a more realistic cavern. Our last game is a good example.

Last ones...more from resin (including the swapped-around S-piece).

I thought I'd post this here, without editorializing about my preference (which I've been pretty vocal about elsewhere). This is just two layouts -- one made from a basic assortment of KS2 that I can't easily recall what it involves, and one made from a single basic cavern set (plus one piece from the chasm set). I didn't use water from either set, or lava/Hellscape, or anything else from the chasm set. This is just a basic cavern layout in each media, for educational purposes. This is only an exhibition, this is not a competition -- please, no wagering.

First, overhead shots of the two caverns. I rearranged the resin slightly, too, because I love the differing looks you can get by rearranging the placement of the S-shaped corner (my favorite piece, hands down).
