Tilesystem is good but has limitations:

- It is PC only.
- Does not have the latest sets.
- Not all area available with photo realistic images.
- With the advent with DF pieces using 'flexible' walls and in general with all the 'add pieces' on top of other pieces, it does not handle layers very well. (Consider the DF River and Wall set. Those walls atop a Cavern piece etc. Any orientation. Possibly overlapping etc.

+ It would be nice if it would run on a 'Tablet' - Maybe an iPad etc.
+ I want the whole 'Public source' centrally managed sharing of maps and dungeons and layouts etc with this Forum.
+ I think DF should put some effort into this area. It will allow people to 'plan' their dungeons. Manage the parts they own. Build a Shopping list of 'necessary extras' - Maybe even add to wish list or cart etc..

'Just saying'
:)

Second that, my group and i play with my Dwarven Forge every week, its out sometimes for two-three weeks straight till we finish some dungeon/towns off in game.

This sort of software would be awesome, specially for PC/Android/Apple if we can get it on all three platforms.

I prefer PC or Android, as we use both in the game room.

Waking this post up from its long sleep.

Dear DF,
'I am Just saying':

I would PAY for a decent App that allowed me to build up dungeon designs from a selectable list of DF 'sets' (So the App manages 'My Library' of DF pieces)

I think that to get the quality - realistic DF images of each piece and updates about each new 'set' that DF should look into this.
I am not expecting you guys to suddenly turn 'Pro-developers' but maybe find out if it would be feasible to get a App company to develop something for all of us ??

It has got to be a great way to enhance and interest and tie people in to DF..

p.s - Make sure it has the ability for people to save and share their dungeon layouts simply. Zoom out & in. Plan views & 3D rotate zoom views. Simple 'graph paper' mode for simple 2D overview as well as 'photo-realistic' views. (Can you tell I really want this ??)

Within 6 months of this being released - I am certain that we would have collectively create some amazing dungeon ideas and layouts between us...

:)

Cool. It looks like I'll be able to bang out some of the pictures of the ABS set pretty easily, no weird floor patterns, no strange shapes that I have to scan in... shouldn't take too long, once I can get to it.

Don't get me wrong... I love the sets like cavernous cavern and the like, but now when I look at them, my first thought is, "Wow, that's gonna be a pain to make a tile for!" 8-)

dandare, the mastermaze collection includes tilesets for both the graphpaper flavor and the photo flavor.
Under the file menu, choose "Change Tileset" and pick one of the tilesets with "photo" in their name.

The graphpaper tilesets tend to be more complete than the photo sets. Because the photosets are provided by one guy: Lonestar. And we can't expect him to buy every set that comes along. Nor can we expect him to photograph every piece. He has been a trooper in producing the photos that he has.

Thanks for taking the time, Harneloot. Going down your list, I got it to work, and as I suspected, it was something really foolish on my part. I didn't have the set files in the root directory. I swear I considered that and I thought I had tried it that way as part of the troubleshooting I did. at myself.

Anyway, I'm off to try some maps. From the few minutes I've spent with it so far, I can tell this is going to be an indispensable tool. Just unpacking the dungeon is an operation in itself, and I can't imagine going through that to manually play with the pieces every time I plan a set up (as fun as that would be if I had unlimited time).

Anyway, thanks again the help, Harneloot. I could have got no better welcome to the forums. I'll be planning my first dungeon crawl using the Master Maze for sometime in the next few months, and plan to share the results here.

Welcome!

And looking forward to the fruits of your labor!
