I looked at Big Lots several times in the last month... lots of Christmas stuff, but never found the trees.

Today I was at Menards. They have their Christmas stuff in. They had packs of similar trees (different label, but they looked the same) at similar pricing. :)

Then I saw this pack:

16 Trees for $4.99.

The minis used for scale are 25mm... they are OLD, but they were handy.

Because the packaging is soft, some of the trees were a little smooshed in a place or two, but most were perfectly fine... pretty sure they are fixable, but it really isn't as noticable once the snow is removed.
I went online to buy some but they dont likethe republic of California prop 65

How many times do i have to tell you DON'T EAT THE TREES!

Shheeesh - it is California - SMOKE the trees ;)

Yup, every spring I make a pass thru the local craft shops (AC Moore, Micheals, etc.) and check for clearance items that sometimes are items like these. If nothing else those clearance buys provide cheap fodder for experiments in making stuff. Just like the post someone made last year about the Tiki hut tops that are an almost perfect fit for 4" tower builds. Sometimes you just got to look beyond the local hobby store for some goodies. (Clearance items for fish tanks can have some useful stuff as well!).

i tried flaking it off - figuring it was some type of flocking, but it is pretty stuck on

just soaked it in a coffee cup and then put dishwashing liquid on it and brushed it a bit

wish they had them without snow

Sometimes its just a plaster on them and it can be washed off for snow-free trees

This bad boy still works:
Of course it does, you could throw an old phone against a cinder-block wall and they still worked. ;)
