Review on Dwarvenite Lava Cavern and River sets.

Post by jgardner44 » Sun Oct 19, 2014 9:56 am

Sky Crystal Arts has posted a review with pictures of the Lava Cavern and River sets in Dwarvenite that just shipped to some backers. Photos of the sets are on the facebook page along with the article.

If you have questions about the ice caver sets personal message them to Sky Crystal Arts to be included in an article being written now. Thanks

Apparently the base PVC of the lava sets is yellow! (Stolen from your review)

Eww... Lava cavern overall looks fine but those rivers are horrible. Way too orange, and the 45° hard straight line on the "two corner islands" pieces is just bad bad.

Yellow Dwarvenite is funny if that's the case, cue up demands for multicolor rainbow cavern base color options! They would drive me crazy though, I would have to paint it black.

Makes me glad I ordered everything unpainted, mine will look much better in the end. In about two years when I actually have everything painted. ;)

More than anything though, just makes me excited to get some caverns!

I'm hoping there is an exposure and/or focus issue with the picture from the review. The transition from orange to maroon seems very abrupt (less variation and detail than the prototypes shown in the KS) and probably looks much better with the "deep lava" pieces (not pictured).
Favorite Pieces: Chasms, 45 Degree Passages, River & Lava Banks, Ledges, Large Curved Walls, Elevation Arch

There is some type of exposure effect going on there. I think the actual colors in front
of you might look a bit different.

I would like to buy a couple unpainted yellow Dwarvenite cavern sets. I wonder if you bought the unpainted lava set if it comes in yellow?

Anyone know if they are going to let us pre-order exrta cavern sets like they did with Dungeon tiles?

Not only would I like an unpainted yellow lava set, there are some other extras I would like to get more of.

I so can not wait to get my hands on these sets!!!

The lava does look quite a bit like that in person. If you adjust the contrast you can make it look better in photos, but I tried to capture a look close to what you will see. I tried not to be picky about it, because I would hate to have df scrap making more lava sets. The painting on be stones is amazing though. I think if there had been at least one more shade transition on the lava it would have been improved.

Damn those ice tiles look good even unpainted. Just build on a light blue table cloth or put some light blue LEDs in a few pieces and your good to go.
