Eh, so a wall isn't quite straight. Just makes it look more realistic! You ought to see the walls in my house. I laid new floor a few years ago and none of my walls are square. In the hallways they are off by as much as 3" from end to end! Made a lot of fun laying Pergo. Which is to say nothing of the waffle board that is my foundation due to settling! Nice redo on the paint job!

Wow! You did a lot of work and it shows. Well done.
What kind of sand paper did you use? (Coarse, fine or both or other). How long did it take?
The finish product where everything fits tighter is amazing! Love the look on the doors.
Thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing more.

I have finished to re-paint my set ! And I'm rather satisfied

BEFORE

Here you can see the wall wich are don't perpendicular, so the pieces didn't fit

I've sanded them and reproduct the motive of the stones

And repainted after

After some hours the result, the whole set repainted and all pieces fit correctly

The doors

What do you think about the result ?

Are you sure the other classic sets aren't like this ?

Because before this misadventure I planed to buy a room set and a wicked addition set, so I would like to be sure they aren't concerned by this problem

I actually like the color of those "defective" tiles.

The overall color looks more based on the "Olive Dry Brush" (over an "Earth Stone"?) instead of mostly a "Base Gray"?

This was a picture someone else posted comparing the Dungeon Tiles to the old Master Maze and the color/tone of the resin piece seems similar to the 'defective' pieces (I'm not concerned about the missing individual lighter colored stones)

Is this just an optical illusion or are those pieces more Olive Dry Brush than Gray?

Stefan - can you suggest a way to paint our Dungeon Tiles the same color as the Master Maze pieces?

Thank you Argol,

We are looking into the matter...I would not say that ALL the classic Sets have this mistake...it seems to be relegated to a batch of the R&P sets...but then again, i am not over there in person, Thod knows more than me...We ARE working on a solution...

I have some news

First of all I want to say Thod was very serious and professional, the after-sales service is top.
He offered me an exchange, but he has opened 3 room and passage sets and they were identical than mine ! So it was useless to do the replacement.
So instead of change I choosed a discount for my next order

Now I will try to paint the stones myself and try to have the same result I see on photos

To conclude the DF europe store is very clean and I'm satisfied (I will post photos on this post with my paint), I thank Thod

However it seems all new classic sets are painted like this ! So I will not buy other classic sets for the moment because of it, I will wait a little hopping the paint will improve
I just hope in the future the paint will become like before

Thomas

I got your second message and just replied. Not sure what went wrong. I tend to read 'everything' here - well - 80% and more. I also didn't spot a message from earlier this week. Time to check Spam filters again even if I white listed Dwarven Forge.

Sorry for the delay - but we will get there.

I have not purchased any of the newer basic sets so I cannot comment. However the sets I have bought Ruins, Catacombs, Rivers and Lakes, etc show improved quality over my early sets rather than less which is why I still get them. I don't get as much as I used to, partially due to the increased costs and partially due to having plenty already. The dwarvenite are good and still in very nice detail even though I prefer Master Maze having received the sets.

@Law, by no means are we cutting costs....in fact our cost to produce these sets has doubled! So I am very upset by the quality of these pictures and will bring it up with the factory....which other sets are going down in quality? Please let Jeff know your thoughts, NOTHING should be going down in quality, our latest Set the Catacomb's was top notch I thought, you even gave it a sparkling review yourself....the only thing that is happening is the prices are going up a bit next year....nothing should be going down in quality.

Oh, I agree the Catacombs set is a classic, no complaints there. But some of the basic dungeon sets that I've bought recently don't have quite the same paint jobs that my sets from 2001 or 2002 have. To be honest, it's so minor I am not even sure a camera would pick up the difference, at least not MY camera. So it's hardly a problem. But it was something I noticed, and when I saw this post, I wondered if maybe some people had it worse than me.

As far as I'm concerned, this one set seems to have been a bad batch. My own sets, maybe next time I have a bunch of things out I'll try to take a picture to show what I mean, but frankly, the "problem" is so minor, it's not worth it to me to take everything out and snap the pics with just the right lighting to make sure it gets captured as well as possible, etc.etc.
