I Second the Request for More "Room" Pieces in this Set...

Me three.
I think i wrote somewhere else that the more people request a DOE "room" type set the more likely we will do one. I getting pretty convinced that we will need one. I had mentioned also that perhaps I could include more room type pieces with the Evil additions Set and make it a huge double box set, but that idea does not seem popular....does it? If we do not include them a room only type set will take a few months later to get created because we will not just pack the existing walls into a box. That would seem to violate the Limited editon aspect for the collectors out there. I think a room set will have walls that a very similar but not exactly the same. It would also include other things that gamers would want multiples of such as secret doors or something else...any suggestions for things that would be better for this set rather than the evil additions set? basically things that you would be happy to have multiples of.

Jeff is currently at Gen Con So Cal busy coordinating True Dungeon so I am not sure how available he will be this weekend on the forums... although i know he will check time to time when he is not lurking around in costume within his own dungeons...

A few more thoughts...

1) A "throne" type piece (either an actual throne or something similar) would be GREAT. This whole area is dedicated to SOMETHING or built by SOMETHING, and the center of it all needs to... well, there needs to BE a center to it all. Some monstrous aberration abomination against nature needs to have its seat of power here. And an actual seat would be a neato way to do that.

2) I like a "room" set idea, but please DON'T connect it to the expansion set. The more I think about it, the more I realize - the whole POINT of wanting such a set is for people to get tons of basic elements without accumulating stuff they don't need to make rooms. Passages, stairs, whatever -- the point of the room suggestion is for people who will buy 2 DoE sets, 2 expansion sets, and 15 basic room sets. The more basic and flexible, the more tempting it will be to buy one more -- the harder it will be to say "Well, I really don't need another X, so I guess I'll (reluctantly) stop at just 5 sets...."

Just something to think about....

I Second the Request for More "Room" Pieces in this Set... Especially if it is Going to Be Supported in any Way...

One of the Ideas I Had about Repaints, was that the Floors would Be Great to do Alternating Red and Blue, or White and Red or What ever, Creating a Very Kewl Checkerboard Potential...

Well, my feedback is that I liked the first two sets enough that I ordered a third one! However, I do think it would be nice to have a set available with more walls and floors and no corridors. I really didn't need or want the corridors from a third set, but just didn't want to wait to see if the next set would include more room pieces and end up without given the limited nature of this set.

You know, I have to admit, I went back and looked more closely at some of my pieces -- there's a little slop from the silver paint in places on mine, as well. It's VERY TINY, and not easy to notice, but it's there.

One of the three doors I had in my set was stuck for a half a second when I first opened it, but once it came loose it's been fine since then.

I say these things not because I'm unhappy, but as a "heads up" for the design of future sets, in particular the DoE expansion set. These are issues you want to watch out for, Guys-at-DF. The DoE expansion obviously has to fit in with the current DoE set, but other than that, in future offerings, paint like this seems to carry a bit of risk. I know that most of the silver paint I've worked with is thicker and harder to use on small surfaces without overspillage. And these are the first DF sets with paint on such small details. It's probably inevitable that there will be some problems on SOME pieces -- these things have, what, 10 teeth on EACH piece? Each one individually painted? What would the odds be that they'd all be perfect?

It took me days, and reading another post, to notice the problem on mine, so I woudn't even call it a problem. But in the future, if this is something that is gonna keep the guys at DF up at night, it might be safer not to include details (at least paint details) like this, if it brings up this kind of possibility.

Just something to think about. DoE still absolutely rocks!

Stefan,
I have never had issues with any DF products in the past, and I really don't think that I will ever have one. As I said, overall I am so very pleased with DOE. I feel like I got my money's worth. As a matter of fact, just a little sanding and I got my doors in order, without comprimizing their paint. If I were to compare this product to any pre-painted fantasy scenery, it would still be vastly superior. I have decided not to request replacement on any of the pieces. None of them would I consider "deal breakers". I eagerly await the next release of goodies. As you can see, my faith in the company is not shaken..

Thank you for this.

I just got my three sets (!) and I'm a happy camper. I've not had the time yet to check all the pieces out, but I'll do so after my game this weekend. So far, the set looks fabulous. I love the lost souls in the edges of the floors.

The drool factor is VERY high. Much coolness.

COLOSSUS,

I am very anguished to hear about your quality problems. Please speak/e-mail to Jeff about a replacement on part or all of your pieces. All the pics I have seen posted on the web site have shown very excellent paint jobs so perhaps yours were not checked properly at the factory. Please note that each and every piece is done by hand, many painters are at work, and perhaps on occaision someone gets sloppy or... evil.... aaarrg! We will complain of course to the factory. We guarantee high quality and you have a right to demand it.

Sorry COLOSSUS.

Stefan.

I have much positive to say about the DOE, but I feel like people are saying a lot of positive things lately. I instead will relinquish my dissapointments.

The main beef is the paint job. I feel like the drybrushing was a little over the top on my set. A little less paint would have shown more depth. Also, the silver talons and other features on the wall pieces were very sloppy. I haven't encountered this much slop-over in the past with DF products, so I feel pretty confident that it is a quality control issue. I just read a post that claimed that they were really pleased with the paint job, so perhaps I got a case of new-guy syndrome.

The other one is: 2 of my 3 doors don't close! Again, just a resin shrinkage issue, but frustrating just the same.

I have tons of good things to say about the set though. The pieces FIT!!

Hopefully the criticism doesn't hurt, Jeff.

Wow two posts in a week. I've gotta cut down...
