We will continue our current line because it is great and we will continue to push the envelope there...but it is difficult to afford by most gamers...our new line will help bring new gamers into our wonderful hobby...and yet I also feel many of our current collectors will also be attracted to it because it is so durable, and thus very convenient...many of you have been "patrons" of ours over the course of 17 years....I humbly call on you to spread the word, and to consider supporting us upon our launch, if you believe in us and what we have stood for all these years...making uncompromising quality products, always striving to improve them, and always standing by them with unflinching customer service...please consider making a small donation even If you decide not to order into this new line we are launching...

Thank you for 17 years of Joy!

Stefan

Saw this on a Facebook post from Stefan:

Allow me to re-introduce myself... ...a new tougher, more affordable dungeon tile material... Made of "Dwarvenite"

Is it too early to say that I totally called it?

"As they are currently being made" to me sounds like a change in the way sets are being produced. Think of what the "Bones" line has done for Reaper. Bringing more people into the club, might mean less expensive sets.

You may be right (and I hope you are) but I'm reading this as something more "generic" than DF core product.

Maybe its sets of random treasure/monsters dice, collections of maps in a book or some other rpg generic fantasy goodness from Stefan's crazy, creative mind?

I suppose we'll all just have to wait?

I am intrigued though!

I am think an ACCESSORY set Kickstarter. That would be Insane. That would be a mega money maker. There could be diffrent themes at diffrent levels.

I'm all IN

Which suggests that Stefan was talking about another company (not DF) that was going to do something cooler than card or wood buildings.

.....We do not have any plans right now to do Kickstarters for new Dwarven Forge Sets as they are currently being made.
We will continue to make Dwarven Forge sets in the same way as long as we are able to sell enough of them to stay in business and will continue to release them in a similar fashion as is currently being done.....

that being said....IF we were to do a Kickstarter it would be for something a little different....something that would help the gaming community as a whole, something that I couldn't really talk about until it was released...it would not keep us from doing what we currently do, rather, if successful it would help our company to keep doing the type of things that we currently do...

I feel that such a project would bring joy to many and might also convert more collectors to our 'club"

nothing official yet...

It all depends on how ambitious Stefan and Jeff want to be!

Things like the sewers set, the great outdoors sets (village/city streets), an alternative MBS etc etc. The sky is the limit.

Personally, I'd strongly "theme" the kickstarter. e.g. if it was a village set then the basic goal would be for a Village boxed set. The little stretch goal might be an additional piece or two, a medium term stretch goal might be an accessory set to go with the village set and a big stretch goal might be to do a village expansion set.

There should be options for people to buy 1, 2, 3 or more sets and this determines their "buy in" level and sets the corresponding perks and freebies correspondingly.

Of course it will require DF to have the ideas and concept art to be already done and a clear hierarchy of "what kit for how much" to be pre planned.

It's not rocket science though and a company with a fanbase like DF should have no trouble crowdfunding something new!

My 2 pence anyways

Dwarven Forge Kickstarter

I thought I'd start a thread discussing speculation about when the Dwarven Forge kickstarter will begin that they hinted about on the buildings KS thread. What do you think they will put in this KS?
