Some 'Pics' would be a great way to encourage me to start saving for another 'November' multi-set order :D

I know I am taking a long time to reply but here are my $.02 worth

A pit opening of some type as was mentioned earlier.

A King's tomb room etc.

A crumbling floor piece trap floor.

A water entry to the river Styx!!!

The special pre order piece can be death in all his regalia scythe, and boat, aka "clash of the titans"

Burnt floor markings from past evil rituals.

More floor pieces, perhaps a heavily damaged/cracked 4 by 4 or 6 by 6 with more skulls in it. This will break up the identical 2 by 2 pieces and allow people to make floors and ceiling for multi level set ups

A trap door opening

A huge flat stone slab and embalming tools/equipment pieces
Rolls of bandages, pliers and tongues
Stacks of bones (other than skulls) e.g. femurs
Mad necromancer laboratory theme?

Sets of stairs (Den of Evil style) to allow multi dimensional set ups

A huge skull mouth door opening (like the green mouth/tongue piece)

Some narrow passages to amke it really claustrophobic!

Piles of bloody offal (varnished to look 'wet')

Well, even though by all accounts Catacombs 2 is already completed or nearly completed, I still can't help myself -- having tinkered a bit, I DO have some ideas about what would be great to see in the future of the Catacombs line.

So -- first, we have the more "basic building components" things. Many of these are DF staples by this point, stuff that every setting gets at some point:

Diagonal walls
Diagonal half-floors (and circular half-floors) to "fill in" the back of the walls
Two-piece stair set
A floor piece with stairs going down in it
Large floor piece
Long wall piece
Some kind of tomb door

I'd also like to see, as much fun as the ornate details are, some stuff that's a little scaled back, so it doesn't become overwhelming and cluttered. The alcoves stacked with skulls are really neat, but if you see them dominating it starts to look bad. I also happen to really LOVE the wall design on the movable curved all - just the little alcoves, basic brick, it's very effective without calling attention to itself. And it's the kind of wall design that would work as the basic "background" of the catacombs, with the skull alcoves and shelves of skeletons as accents. So I would like to see basic walls, and long walls, with that kind of design.

Then we have the more "ornate" building components -- stuff that's generic enough to show up in repeated places, but also eye-catching, the sort of thing that someone who sees a layout would gravitate towards and want to inspect up close:

Spiral stairs
Large staircase (like the one from WA 3)
A large double door (like WA 3 or the DoE WA set)
A secret door
A raised tomb (like the Reaper one I just used in a pic I put in the Photos forum)
A ruined wall

Then we get into the really fun crazy stuff that probably would only show up once:

A particularly ornate tomb
A shrine
A statue
A transition from the Catacombs setting to either Den of Evil or Hellscape (or one of each, or course!)

That's all I can think of, really. Like I said in my review, this set is already pretty complete. Any ideas that DF has about exciting little twists and turns would be welcome, but nothing is leaping to MY mind. I'm super excited to see what Catacombs 2 is going to include -- hopefully, given the time frame they've been describing, we won't have to wait much longer for a sneak peak!

As glad as I am to hear about catacombs 2, and possibly 3, I am really hoping a restock of "Catacombs" happens around the same time....

Me too! When I first saw this set, I thought to myself "That looks AWESOME, but I feel like it would be a case of diminishing returns if someone made a huge dungeon out of it. You really only need a few rooms. I'll probably stick to just one set. Maybe two."

But now that I've tinkered with it, I can see the appeal of getting at least 3 or 4. I mean, it's still a TINY bit more limited than the regular dungeon set, medieval building set, or the cavern sets, because with those you really could potentially keep expanding and expanding and it would always "work." With Catacombs, I do still feel that after awhile it would get a little much -- but I can see now how cool it would be to build a really huge catacomb. There's so many fun things to do with these pieces, and the more you have, the more creative you can be in your combinations. (plus, larger and larger piles of skulls!)

I definitely plan to get at least one more set, maybe even 2, once they come in stock. I can't afford to do more than that, but over time, I really hope this is a perennially available set so I can scoop them up now and again to add to my stock.

As someone who owns no DF, the Catacombs are the set I want the most. I hope they not only do more, but that the first set comes back into stock.

I suppose another neat thing to see would be an iron gate of some kind -- that could look quite cool in the catacombs, almost religious.

And, having recently re-read the Cask of Amontillado, I would love shelves with bottles on them! But since I've been asking for DF bookshelves since 2002 or so and no luck yet, I suppose I won't hold my breath on wine shelves. ;)

I would also like to see fancy wine shelves for a wine cellar

Would anybody else be interested in a monsters nest / lair piece made from bones collected from the catacombs? If it was modular to make different sized bone filled nests or lairs that we be even better.
