I couldn't resist the 20% off.......

I just noticed that the Alpha sets stock was down to 3. After
asking Jeff about the possible restock date of 1-2 years from
now I went ahead and ordered 2 more. With 4 Alpha sets I'm
thinking of a giant multi level room or one great catwalk battle.

I think eventually ill get one more beta, 1 passage and a few more
starters but for now lets just hope I survive my wife's wrath.

I was also debating about picking up a couple more Betas to get those long walls and porthole walls but just couldn't bring myself to do it. I already have more curved passages than I know what to do with. Although as I discovered in my last setup, I can make a nifty tower with eight of them and eight of the small curved walls.

Anyway jls304, welcome to the sci-fi world. Now you have me thinking about a Jedi Temple with ROTA and an attached landing bay in sci-fi. :-)

yeah as a fellow supporter of the Sci-Fi line i was tempted but in the end to get the discounts on new sets went with them.

Another beta an score some long walls, while the curves may seem a bit of a waste with the lack of passages to match with, the portal walls, variant doors and the long walls are very nice. And tony griffon of griffon studios now has some curved inner sections for the big curved passages from Beta tah make them more useful as outer walls or something.

jls304,

Yeah with the Sci-Fi it is tough because the starters really are fairly small... But it really comes down to how much of your map you want to lay down on the table at once I suppose...

Three sets works, thopugh personally I think six (6) of the starters is really a good number for basic set-ups. Recall that this is only 18 straight wall sections (3 per set), and 24 2x2 floors.... Which is a little limiting...

And of course, you really need all of the expansions (at least 2 of each probably), especially Alpha (for floors) and Beta (for Walls & Doors) to get the most out of your Sci-Fi...

But I am a bit zealous about Sci-Fi because I campaigned for so long for these sets--and they are some of my favorite DF pieces truth be told.

But back to your OP, I hate that I missed the deadline on these... It was a nice little sale though...

maj! {Good}...

The 20 percent off was just too good to pass up so I broke down and
purchased 3 Sci-Fi starters, 2 alpha , 1 beta and 1 gamma to go with
my ROTA entry piece.

I wasn't sure if this was too much or not enough, so I took comparable
pieces from my fantasy sets to see what I could build. I was pretty
happy with what I could create but a few more walls and floors would
have been nice. I guess I had to draw the line somewhere or my
wife would clobber me when the credit card bill came.

Thanks for the discounts DF !
