New Sci-Fi Sets due in May!

Post by admin » Mon Apr 05, 2004 3:57 pm

We have two more Sci-Fi sets coming out in November, and these will include more passage pieces, some cool large floor pieces, some accessories and a cool ramp.

We will post more info when it is concrete. I don't want to disappoint anyone if we have to scrap a piece at the last minute.

Thanks for the suggestions, and please keep them coming. We really do listen!

As for Alpha - Beta, These are going to be like the Wicked Additions, Right???

A vid-screen piece could be nice. (You could use it for a "porthole" or a star trek like screen.

We do need end-caps for these. maybe one that ends in a ladder up and down.

Contol consals (computer banks?) will be needed, of course.....

A melted/blasted floor tile could be nifty...........

Bunk beds and work stations..........

These sci-fi pieces are harder for me to think of.......

New Sci-Fi Sets due in May!

I've checked out the sci-fi sets, but I agree that they seem a little bland. I think that pipes, vents etc embedded in the wall would be exceptionally cool. That is also to break up the monotomy of the walls.

When i think sci-fi dungeon I think "Aliens" the movie. :)

I am happy these are cumming out. But where are my Cavernous River and Lake sets??? (It seems like I've been waiting a long time) I put away enough $$$ to buy many (3+)

I hope the Alpha Beta Sci-Fi sets are as good as the Wicked Editions.

Lottsa Air Locks, Lift Tubes, etc.

I wonder if you could do a ships cannon piece. Could be nice. I plan on useing these as star ship passages as well as "Secret Bases"

New Sci-Fi Sets due in May!

Post by Guest » Fri Apr 02, 2004 3:58 pm

I've been looking over the photos of the new Sci-Fi sets, and I have a few impressions. I have been using the sets from Ainsty (www.ainsty.co.uk) for some time, and have found them to be good and well made, though they have the dis/advantage of having to be painted.

1) The sci-fi sets looks very similar to the dungeon sets in construction and quality, which is a good thing.

2) The sets look a little plain. I'd have to see them up close to be sure, but they just look a little drab to me, basically like the existing fantasy sets with metal floors.

3) There are no long straight passages in the passage set! Those are a necessity, IMO, though I'm sure they're coming in future sets. Also, there are no passage end caps, which makes it hard to seal up the end of a hallway gracefully. I'd like to see two end caps; one with a wall or control panel, and one with a sealed hatch.

I will almost certainly buy some of these sets, but I wish there was more variety and "sci-fi-ness" to them, to distinguish them from the fantasy line. Hopefully the Alpha and Beta sets coming in November will add some trick pieces and accessories that will liven things up a bit. Overall these look quite nice for a basic first set.

We have two new Sci-Fi sets due in May. Go to "GM Tools" and then "Tile Construction Kit". You will have a chance to play around with the pieces before they are out. Enjoy.
