Technically, those are not high variance dice, those are bi-modal dice. Which is even scarier.

Edit: Comparing outcome distributions one could characterize those as "Hit or Miss" ie the 4-sided die is a coin flip, and all the other dice distributions are pushed toward binary.

Yeah, but you are dealing with a bunch of woodcrafters (as opposed to mathematicians or scientists) who had the idea of making rolls more "exciting" since special things tend to happen on high and low numbers in most games. The average is the same, but the outcomes are not. The name - High Variance stuck in the brainstorming ahead of the KS and pretty much everyone who backed also got a few high variance dice as promo SGs as well.

They should have talked to a mathematical statistician, we could have come up with some really fun distributions.

What about really high variance dice, where for an n-sided die, draw n-numbers from 1 to n with replacement. On average the population of dice has a uniform distribution from 1 to n, but each individual die has it's own unique set.

The high variance dice have more numbers at the high and low end and fewer in the middle of the dice. They were a KS that Wyrmwood is just finishing up on fulfilling now. They do not have only 1s and 6s on the dice, but we did see a lot of 1s and 20s on the d20s......

Here is the main pic of my new build. Below are a bunch of random pics

This is a city build with KSIII up top and KSI below, with the DoD also down below.

An interesting and effective way to build a nice congested-looking city. Of course, the wall golems show up at the end as well!!! Those have to be one of the most clever tiles DF has conceived, designed, and built.

Is this an underground city in a cavern or just on another plane? Partially asking since I know last time they were following the worms and then rainbow land. (The massively vibrant colored build - although that new Wyrmwood and DF post gives a run for your money on that front..) I think you have been inspiring some folks to break out of the pastel shades of grey, green and brown world so many of us build in.

I hope I am. Factory painted can be pretty drab at times, and I like some color.

This is more simply the city and the dungeons and such beneath it. Noting too big or too hard, but should be an interesting session anyway as I am hoping to split the party as much as I can to get them do do their own thing a bit more.
