They are used to define the boundaries of each of the 100 rooms in the maze. By not using walls, it's easier to place and remove pieces into the rooms.

Fascinating to see what DooFers use their DF pieces for. There was a very 'Gauntlet' build not so long ago.

Dragon Maze of Death tabletop game

I'm posting a tabletop game I made based on the 1981 Mattel electronic handheld D&D Computer Fantasy Game. I call it the 'Dragon Maze of Death'. It uses some Dwarven Forge pieces. The instructions are currently going through some changes after a few rounds of play testing.
