For a real big mini with a lot of surface area it just needs more shading and whatnot so it doesn't look so flat. I mean, that's what you get with a factory paint job, so nothing unexpected.
I don't know. Base coat, two different colors with drybrush in different directions, dark wash, very light drybrush (using the same color as the drybrush before the wash). The factory could easily and quickly do that and get a lot of depth.
I agree, it really wouldn't take too much more steps in the paint process to get something that, IMO, would be infinitely better than what it looks like now.

In this game the best thing I love is looting new treasures and solving new puzzles. nice game to enjoy.

I have not touched up or repainted the kraken, but I have done so to other mins before. Usually touch ups.

I ended up backing out not because of the change in materials, but because it was going to cost me more money since a miscommunication meant that the original quoted price was wrong... well, I shouldn't say I backed out of it, but more ended up choosing the Kraken from their store. I still need to repaint it as I'm not a fan of their paint job; it's barely competent, but could be sooo much better with a bit more effort.
I have the green one from the kickstarter and I like it enough. I did put a gloss sealer over the eyes though.

Big old boy!

Both of them

Much prefer without bases, makes bigger minis much more flexible.

Could see them assaulting a big castle 'Warlords of Atlantis' style :)

Yea I picked up 2 of them one of each color. The big problem with them is that they are heavy and are going to be easy to have parts of them break off if your not careful with them. I would have preferred if they could have gotten them done in plastic. Oh well you take what you can get.

Mine with an 8 inch base will be hard to place and even harder to move if there is any floor variation.
TRAMPLE will be REAL!
