I actually just discovered that wiki myself today while researching an out of print Thunderbolt Mountain diorama I've acquired. They were one of three sites with any info at all on it. Thunderbolt themselves don't even have anything up about it! Definitely a worthy resource.

Well, these 3 guys are definitely Grenadier models, so the story I remember is probably BS unless someone from their was casting stuff in CA at the time. Odd since it's so many of the same 3 models that were only available in that giant box set.

That Lost Minis Wiki is great!

OK - you used to be able to hit "edit" and move the pictures into the text, but i cannot figure out how to do that in Forum 2.0

BTW Zach - congrats on scoring the largest haul of DF and gaming goodies ever - i briefly considered throwing my hat into that bidding war, but quite frankly the sheer volume was more daunting than tempting - I am sure it cost you a tidy sum of money, but i bet buying in volume still made it an awesome deal - the sad part is now you never have to hunt for anything more...

PS - Some of those figures are quite nicely painted - sad that someone could walkaway from a lifetime of gaming and such a vast collection

This guy:

is the Ranger from the Grenadier AD&D Dungeon Explorers Set #5001 - chances are likely you have more of those figures as there were 20 in the box set - i just recognized that one because he was my thief when i was 12 years old ;)

Lost Minis Wiki - is a great place to hunt and track down - it is a giant rabbit hole though so be careful when you go down itno it:

Ral Partha was one of the original metal fantasy mini lines back in the 80s-90's. They closed shop a long time ago.

The ratman in the 2nd picture is a Skaven (I think Ogre Skaven or some such) from Games Workshop (I have the same mini I converted for my Blood Bowl army)

The Mechs before the dragon are from Battletech (Atlas, Centurion(?), Marauder, 2 Gryphons). I think Ral Partha made those plastic kits back in the day.

The yellow power armor guys after the dragon are Space Marines from Games Workshop's Warhammer 40k, as are the 2 orks afterwards (I have both of those guys! OLD school).

That's all I recognize. Most of those old pewter figures look really old.
Thank you! The buildings do appear to be Custom Kingdoms! My google image search-fu did not turn up anything, so thank you!

Crazy story on the old minis! Life's weird, huh? :D

@JasonYoung - Well, it came with the collection I bought... nothing was free. :P

Keep them coming if you notice anything! THANK YOU!

As a curiosity what did you pay for all the resin buildings? =)

Regardless thanks for sharing. =)

Not sure if the older ones are archived anywhere?

OK, holy crap. I thought I recognized one of those *really* old minis. I may sort of be able to help identify them. So, when I saw that little knight with the sword against his shield, I thought he looked *awefuly* familiar but I couldn't be sure. So I dug up a little tin I've had since high school (over 20 years ago) and sure enough, there he was, along with the barbarian and another you don't have.

So, this story may be completely BS, but here's how my 20+ year memory remembers it. When I was in HS one of my moms co-workers apparently used to sculpt and cast minis as a hobby. When he heard I was into them, he gave her a bunch of them to give to me. I never painted them because they weren't really up to the quality of things like Ral Partha I was buying, but I've kept them all these years. And I'll be damned if those 2 aren't part of that set...

If what my mom back then is true, I'm seriously shocked to see another set of these show up anywhere...
