Looks like they're pulling it off though. I think it's nice looking.
I've always liked brick buildings and we don't have that many here.
There's an historic area just a few blocks outside downtown with a brick Victorian mansion built in 1883. Everything from Civil War Days to Christmas Light Shows to Ribfest is held annually in the surrounding park.

From Arizona here, its hot but has both desert and forested areas (up north). It's about an hour drive from my house in the desert up to Flagstaff or Prescott where its green with forest. Many people choose to retire here as you can easily go back and forth to escape the summer heat of the desert.

Here are two interesting places in AZ; Tombstone and Sedona. Sedona has red rocks and great hiking trails. I have been going up to Sedona since I was a child and I love it there, such a peaceful serene feel to it.

It's been a few decades since my last beer, but I used to like German beer too. I grew out of the taste in general.
Now, I'm partial to Sarsaparilla and Root Beers though. Maybe a nice glass of wine (or is that whine) a few times a year suffices.
My doctor/government overseers, frown on mixing alcohol (or anything fun related) with pain killers.

Is the pic near where you live, or is it a pic of the Parc des Vosges or German side of same?
Beautiful. Makes me want to come back. Our last trip was along the Burgenstrasse from Heidelberg to Nurnburg.

PS: Germany does have the best beer...but its your dark beers!!

You guys from Europe are going to make me jealous as you have real castles and history dating back to the middle ages! Here is Arizona about the oldest stuff we have are from the old American West like Tombstone. (Also some indian ruins that are quite old but not very many of them). Also love German beer. I think of the ones I typically see here my favorite is the Spaten Dunkel. I like most Vienna style beers\lagers. I would guess what we get tastes different that what you all get there though. Any castle\old ruins stuff you can share near you?

I live in a rural area called Ravensdale in Washington state. It is in the foothills of Mount Rainier. I love it as I am an outdoors kind of guy. All these pictures are close to my home (the only exception is Mt St Helens as it is 3 hours away but I just took the picture yesterday). We live on a little lake that you can see in some of the pictures. We have two dogs Lug (the big bullmastiff), and Repo a (long haired Dachshund). Sorry if I went a little overboard. :D
Very nice, looks beautiful there! Makes me want to go somewhere more green than AZ. Thanks for sharing. (Fun to see kids outdoors too these days!)

Thought that would get your attention, GODofwar. ;)

If my father wouldn't have traded Gramp's M1918 LF&C Trench Knife in the late 70's, that would have been in this picture. For a friggen Nikon Camera, ... dad was a crazy man at times!!! Although, I did have a unnatural love for that knife, maybe that's why he did it. :?

I use much shorter ones now - X-Acto and the like.

For those that are unaware - 8-)

I'm familiar with the trench knife, but unfamiliar with shouting k-bar. Over my head. Don't get it.
K-Bar is (or was) the standard issue USMC knife. The thingie stuck in the stump are one.
