My table that I both craft and game at is an old basic farm table that is older than I am. It is 4x8, but for gaming I like mats under my games when possible. Many come in 3x5 or 4x6. I just got a new two sided neoprene Pegasus mat at the local convention for a good price. I'm looking forward to checking out the shop the booth was for, it is supposed to be opening up in a nearby town soon.

I voted 5x8 for most comparable tabletop sq footage, but we game at a long 11x3.5 table. I usually build a setup on half the length and our group sits with there gaming materials around the other end.

I try for 2' by 3' play area. The table size can change.

We voted 6x4 as all our builds always seem to expand to fill the table which is roughly 6x4 maybe closer to 7x4.

Though not strictly used for RPG most recent games have been more RPG than strictly wargaming.

I pulled 4 work table (2.5' x 5') in size to make a 5' x 10' play area that we spread out the 4' x 8' gaming map (hex or squares) as needed on. Gives plenty of room for players, and stuff and the encounters.

Although I despise Walmart, one day I bought 4 3x3 wooden folding tables from them. Put together, they form a 6x6 gaming table. One of our players who worked for a sign shop made 4 2x2 grids on some kind of really sturdy wet erase material (about 1/2 inch thick) Placed in the center of the table they make a 4x4 grid area, with 1’ all the way around for players to put character sheets, drinks, dice towers etc. We seat 6 players plus the DM.

It’s worked pretty well for about 3 years now using wet erase markers, although now that I’ve started using dwarvenite we are thinking about either getting a lower table or sawing the legs shorter on the folding tables so we can see over the dwarvenite “walls” easier.

For KSV I ordered 16 terrain trays to fill the 4x4 space...we shall see how well it works.

Nice cstle/ambient light jasdotcom

I play on kitchen table (2x3 usable), game room (friends 8x4 too long imho) and a big square coffee table (4x4 low - very nice change to atmosphere) when i build game room it will have 5x6 table with 3x4 useable. Id like bigger but it gets hard to reach plus negatively impacts intimacy

We're lucky enough to have a room set aside just for gaming, so 12x15ft.

As for our playing surface, our table is 5x5

I have a 4' by 8' wargame table. I use the kitchen table for roll play so a 2' by 2' play area.
