The columns are from CMON Massive Darkness.

The Dragons are on the list for restoration. Some were painted with Testors. All of them need the wings pined. They were painted 40 years ago.

In the early 80's Grenadier Models did a Dragon of the Month Club. Each month they released a different dragon. In the first series each dragon came with a pedestal that had the name of the dragon type on it and an approptriately colored "gem" to put on the pedestal.

DotM were old Grenadier sets, I think. Or maybe Ral Partha. Yeah... something like that.

I used the shallow water paint and created this wash

Image

The base is dark lava. Cavern Dry Brush applied with a synthetic sponge.

But rabbit that Dragon looks badass!

We have used Army painter rattlecans and we are not sure its our hampawed use, but we find it is a little too thick, we assume this is not your experience ?
We have then used Citadel rattlecans to much better effect - ie not so thick.

Also highlighting metals seems to be the norm, but we find for something old or grimey its too much bling so often we don't do it and we think the results are better.

All depends on the effect your after, after all a well used door can be rusty with shiney parts where worn through use.
Also if you use highlights to show where light shines then a bit of bling is not necessarily out of place, though we try pre shading for that, which has had mixed results as it is a new technique for us.

And who is the Double BFO axe wielding dude?
