I don't really see something new that goes on par with what DF seems to be going for as their standards for their KS. I mean many tiles with lots of character, bling and wow factor.

For exemple : Hills would be awesome but for something good you would need a lot of coverage but those tiles would look... bland... and you would need even MORE of those tiles to be able to have a variety of possibility with different shapes of different hills.

Volcanos could be done, they are close to mountains but lava flows that cooled back into rocks has a different form than regular mountains, but then again mountain sets are more versatile.

Swamps would be a good idea, if they base their concept on dreadhollow with tiles with a lot of encumbrances, some a little and some not at all, lots of water and bank tiles and many kind of hazards. I'd be all over this to be honest.

Now... i'm going to draw some swamp tiles xD

Anyone with ideas of cool encounters in swamps?

Maybe some trees made of clear dwavernite with LED, cover it with opaque paint with some unpainted places for nice glowing/corrupted effect

We think for swamp DF will go negative space and scatter terrain.
With added wooden CBS swamp huts and more rickety docks and everglade style trees and more boats :)

I wanna see a lizardman standing in the water, leaning over a log, noodling a giant catfish, with a two tailed gator latched onto his tail. ;)

EDIT - The lizardman's tail, that is.

Yes exactly my thoughts. With dead tree bridge, docks, scaffolds and ladders for the village. Maybe an hydra/dragon lair, sunken ghost ship or even insect nests ?

i don't know if the quality is good enough, i will scan it when i'm back home if necessary.

So, starting from the upper left,

LEDs : Lampost on branches
Corrupted translucent trees with paint for the effect
Druid circle for puzzle (like in diablo 2 with tristram) or even with inserts

Modular docks, in 1x4 and 2x4

Large platform in 6x6, 2x6 and 2x6 to make village or other contructions a bit higher than the water trays (i would prefer water tiles with murky resin.. but $$$) with log stilts

A CBS system for the buildings, wooden walls with thatch roof would be nice

Modular dead tree bridge, the robe bridge is a good exemple of how this would work, but the larger pieces could need a middle support like the bridge in KS5, maybe on a rock rising from the water?

Upper right :

Ladders from water to platforms, circular one to go to higher places. A large tree stump that could support a tree house would be really cool

And finally scatter terrain with water lily, mosspatches, trees, rocks, bank tiles and grassy tiles, combinations of them.

Clear plastic under patch of scatter pieces could be useful to make them stay together but appearing like rising from the water.

What do you think? should i send this to DF ? :)

For an series of outdoor settings, one could craft a series of small locations that reflect the essence of each environment.

Swamps are an easy and apparently desired terrain. They provide the option of water transitiions, edge pieces and open water in a variety of styles to support. Small structures with a rustic or ruined look would fit in nicely, as would special locations (aka Spirit Tree) as a centerpiece.

A more rustic or typical woodland that creates a ritual site with stones and other items in a circular pattern (a crude version of stonehenge type setting).

A Burial mound. That could be a two level setting, with a series of larger tiles making the surrounding earth and the caps to cover the internal chamber. That internal chamber could also find use in Dungeons or Caverns or even Castles if you build in suitable flexibility. The sloped grassy sides of the chamber could also act as a sloped hill to span between the ground cover and something on stilts, instead of a rocky escarpment. The entrance could also be used for a normal cave or dungeon entrance as well. Lots of flexibility.

A series of stream options, perhaps just an expansion on the edge tiles, but with more of them being larger in size. Could also make a multipart canoe to go along with the rowboat. Something that is only 1 figure wide and perhaps only 4 or 6 inches long.

A special Hot Springs tile that has roiling water bubbling over the edge of a stone circle. If the opening is large enough it could be an underwater entrance. Related to that would be waterfall options. Perhaps a double height waterfall cliff combo that would be more dramatic, and that you could have opening behind at various elevations.

For outdoor buildings, perhaps a more rustic wayside tavern or trading post type setting. Same basic concept as CBS, but with log cabin style walls. Have free standing fence options or animal pens. Wooden towers and outbuildings. Instead of the Stone Watch tower, wooden towers with ladders. Wooden walls could be used with a CBS system to create a simple wooden fort. Would be very modular and expandable. The basic Fort is 12" by !2" or 3x3 CBS type tiles. Has a 2 or 3 story tower build in the center tile and a special gate wall that reflects the current styles. (I have tried to build a "Tudor fort" and it really kind of loses something in the translation.)

Those are just a few quick thoughts on possible future offerings.

Could not hurt.

Nice ideas.

I think clear plastic is underutilized.

Is clear dwarvenite a thing ? would be interesting to see the scatter pieces in one block of clear dwarvernite and then paint the sculpts on it. It would be less fragile than tiny molds glued on thin plastic.

I see the ice cavern but they come out at too white and not completely translucent
