None of the methods that I've tried seem to work. The one that had the most impact was the fingernail polish remover, but that actually softened the door as well, and only softened the glue slightly. The door is now softer than the glue. I have some goo gone somewhere that I may try if I can find it, but besides that, I'm out of ideas.

It's not worth the hassle of mailing the damaged tiles back to DF, so what I'll probably end up doing is fix the ones that I can with a blade (probably about 10 or so), then the ones that I can't (probably four or so), I'll just cut the door off, and use it as an archway, or maybe mod it into a magic portal, or maybe turn it into a home-made secret door... Assuming I don't find anymore. Still have a ways to go before I've reviewed everything...

I had one stuck door. I just cut it free and plan on using the door as a bashed in door and the frame as an arch or other opening. (Wife told me its broke, just throw it away, as if.)

After 11-12 hours, the vinegar and the Simple Green have done nothing in dissolving the glue. I'm going to continue to let them soak, and am now trying rubbing alcohol and nail polish remover for my next two experiments.

Stefan, any hints as to what kind of glue they used? Different glues require different methods for removal...

Before I started all this, I first tried cutting/scraping at the glue to remove it, but wasn't having much luck. In hindsight, I may have been using an old blade. If none of the above methods work, I'll put in a new blade and start scraping...

I have a bunch of narrow doors like this. I was able to force a few, but a few others I actually started to split the dwarvenite along the wood seam between the planks of the door.

For now, I'm doing a couple experiments with using Simple Green on one stuck door, and vinegar on another, to see what happens. I'll post my results in a day or so. Sooner if it actually works.

Also, the doors seem to be stuck in batches. I'd have several in a row, then go for a while with no problem, then have several more... So I'm guessing the ones that are stuck were done by the same person. Or same couple people...

Biowizard as usual, has the right of it. Amongst some other issues I had a handful of doors with the glue problem. I used a small blade on the hobby knife and carefully cut through the glue until I reached the bar that goes through the door, wiggled it just a little to clear a little more of the glue, then applied a fraction of my Herculean strength at the middle of the door and then when it opened; I opened and closed them about a dozen times each and now they work just as well as all the others.

Vinegar might remove the adhesive.

If you hotglue miniatures to a painting base, you can use vinegar to remove the glue from the miniature base when painted.

Vinegar also removes a lot of adhesives, and according to this PVC chemical resistance chart it should be safe for the Dwarvenite:

May I suggest a hobby knife for a home-made repair?

Thank you Synistar for posting that picture....I see now that it seems when they glued in the top piece to trap the door in they applied too much glue and it overflowed....

You can return the piece and we will replace it no problem...Sorry! (hopefully you are in the USA)

Or you could try to get the glue to unglue? Any fans know of a product? i know there are lots of modelers out there and even chemists...

Some folks have reported that a firm yanking has gotten some stuck doors to unstick, (like a force stuck doors roll....lol....) Every piece is different of course, i suppose depends on the degree of glue that has overflowed....

Stefan, that's an AMAZING idea... use the shut door for your PCs... when they say they will bash the door open (or force stuck door), pick it up throw it over and say "If you get it open you succeed. Otherwise you fail."

Either way you either have an open door or a great prop :P

Here is a picture of the glue in the hinge. You can see that the upper hinge is entirely filled with glue.
