The prow of a boat is a great visual piece, so I would prefer it to be one good piece. As for a boats KS, sounds like a secondary part of a KS to me, maybe outdoors.
I second this. Make the prow and stern 'capstone' pieces that determined the ship width - either three tiles or five tiles. This concept worked well for round towers. In either case, the cargo hold hatches could be the middle tile, as could the mast pieces and lots of the midline rigging attachments.

This would be a hard kickstarter to fund compared to dungeons and caverns. It should probably be expanded out to include all of the needed ship accessories: wheel, coiled ropes, etc, as well as a docks system that integrates with city builder. I'd go further than that, including a shoreline system in a 4x4 footprint that tapers down to a battlemat underneath. If possible, we could do a line of sea caves that taper down to an ocean battlemat. I'd include a coral caverns set.

That's my aquatic adventures DF wishlist. I imagine pirate miniatures that are sculpted to be onboard ships... swinging from rigging, dagger gripped by the teeth.

Still plenty of opportunity to make additional bits like figureheads and naval rams and bowsprits, but keeping the basic pieces as simple and generic as possible is frequently a good way to go.

uhm, yeah FIGUREHEAD is the word i am looking for ;)

it could be two pieces but i was looking at it as an opportunity for Michelle or Elye to have fun with sculpting ;)

Why not cut the “prow” (the “masthead” is the highest point on a mast, not part of the hull) into port and starboard diagonal walls with a 2”x1” footprint?

I was also in for the trees. Since I don't have a lot of other trees (and none that I like) I feel like I can put these out all the time -- whether or not there is anything hiding in them. I like the option of having miniatures in the treetops.

That said, if DF were to do a similar design (set of different trees?) I'd get those in a heartbeat.

I went in on the trees as well.

There was a KS not too long ago for a "modular" type boat. Not quite as modular as Dwarven Forge, but it still looks pretty great.

I backed their trees - for $100 painted i found the boat to be too limited - there are better one piece ships out there for a similar price.

Still hoping for a truly modular boat that could be expanded or contracted as the need arises. Plus all those bits could be repurposed in city layouts.

I would buy this system for ships.
