Cool idea. I will try the triple thick. Modge podge has a product for embedding that might work well too. Plaid makes so many brand names it is hard to keep up with them.

I've used it to gloss up some of these pink mushrooms and lily pads. I was very pleased that it is much harder than the water effects I used years ago, which never really hardened. It sets up fairly quick and you can layer it on. I think I will use it on my water tiles when I get them painted.

... the closest I\'ve come to a triple thick is McDonald\'s Triple Thick Milkshakes. :-)

... but now I\'m intrigued with it. I\'m going to have to see if any stores around my area stock it.

Btw, I too like how your pool turned out. Lots of depth to it. Great job!

The pool looks great. I have used Triple Thick on paper models to make them more substantial. I like the product. You can get brush lines if you go too thick. It\'s better in my case to to multiple thin coats. A coat of matte varnish takes away the shine if that\'s your intention. In your case the shine is desirable. I think I\'ll use your idea for my water effects in the future.

Has anyone tried using Triple Thick?

Post by Kryzsko » Thu Jun 05, 2014 12:47 am

I was looking for a way to do water effects when I get my Cavern Tiles that would look better than just paint with a gloss coat, but easier than pouring resin. I found some stuff called Triple Thick brush on gloss glaze. Seemed to be popular with people making jewelry. It sounded promising, so I decided to try it with my unpainted game tiles pool and here are the results. I used one drop of teal food color. I had also painted the bottom of the pool. Then after it dried over night it felt like resin. I loved the results and plan to use it for the cavern, and also for slime, acid, and blood/gore.
