Post Your Cavern Paint Jobs
Re:Post Your Cavern Paint Jobs
I still like your paint job and tried to emulate it somewhat. I tried posting some pics, but between the flash washing everything out and my poor camera work no one liked them so I am not going to post any more pics here.
Re:Post Your Cavern Paint Jobs
Brvheart please keep posting photos. I liked them a lot.
But between my not being able to sign in to post at home (work only works as it keeps me logged in) and over the Holidays where the forums wouldn't accept the #code to post messages... i think that many people may want to post but are having quite some difficulty now.
I know I am. But please keep posting pics. I use everyone here as inspiration for what I might be able to pull off.

I respectfully disagree.
Keep posting!

I look at all the pictures that get posted. Brvheart I looked at all your pictures. I was amazed at how much you have finished. With the holidays I feel like I have barely made a dent (almost finished with 4 water sets). I thought your pictures looked great. I don't know how they look in person, but they did not look that washed out from the flash to me. I was going to post about them, but have not had much time, but I do look at any new pictures I see posted. I can say that I have gleaned ideas form yours, and everyone else's. I will post my water sets when I get them finished.

Here are some pics of my 4 finished water sets with a few cavern pieces:

I like the illusion of depth with your paint job; mind sharing how you did it?

Depth effects and random lighter blobs are very cool. Will keep these in mind when I get 'round to doing mine.

Really Nice work!
Re:Post Your Cavern Paint Jobs
Very nice! I did not trust my ability to do water yet so I got pre-painted on them and the Wicked Set.
Re:Post Your Cavern Paint Jobs
Thanks everyone. I like how they turned out. I went through several trial runs to get the look I wanted.
To extend the land into the water I just used a thick mix (not mixed together) of earth stone, olive, and stone edge. I put them on the same pallet and just let the colors run into each other then I used a very small piece of natural sponge to dab on the the colors starting dark and going light.
I added sapphire blue to the shallow water green to give it more of a bluish tint, and I added moss green to the water bubble blue to make it more teal rather than straight light blue. I also thinned both a lot to make them more transparent.
It all went rather quickly once I found the paint scheme I wanted.
I used Triple Thick glaze to make shallow water along the shore, but not for the deep dark green water. Tip (from my mistake): Use nail polish on the dark green water because the TTG scratches easy and showed scratches badly on the dark green background. I like the ticker look of the TTG, but I had to go over it with nail polish to get a harder finish.
All a lot of fun, but I am ready to crank out a ton of regular cavern pieces. I have that process down so I won't take too long.
