Most of the time it's just an X-Acto with a #11 blade, but any "sharp" utility knife or scalpel. I stress SHARP, or it will leave more marks and not cut as straight. I guess you could use a saw, but remember the thickness of the saw will be removed from piece. Also, when using a power saw it can melt the edges of the PVC along the cut. I think a slow hand saw would work with less possible smell if it does melt.

Here is a thread I did on cutting Dwarvenite.
http://dwarvenforge.com/forum/viewtopic ... 142#p79142

Good luck if you go for it. Even with some sketchy knife cuts on my part, none of my D.F. window treatments were unusable when I was done. It's scarier to think about screwing them up than it actually happening. Watch you fingers, they can cut very deep.

@William: What are you using to cut apart things like these window inserts? Just a knife? Or a saw on some things?

The shot from outside with the blue curtains looks great! I always feel so *un-crafty* and *uncreative* when I see all the excellent mods everyone here comes up with :(

Tip, Trick, Mod #5 - Window Treatments.
I feel so HGTVish.

I wanted to be able to see the curtains through the shutters, so I cut the backs off both the Curtains and Open Shutters. You will see if you can cut off the back of the open shutter in one piece you end up with a box frame. The short lengths with color are from the Curtain returns. I was thinking of making window frame inserts out of them as you can see, but I'll leave that for a future date.

Having lots of time is a blessing, I get to fiddle with everything. After I was done painting one evening I thought the Assasin's Perch looked like something when all bunched together, it just took a little fiddling. See last two picks. ;)
