I was going to try and do one big drop of all this stuff, but have deciced to just post them in a series on this new thread as I get to them. Anyone wanting to add to the mix is more than welcome.

Starting with a tip/trick for the Lion Statue, that I'm sure others have done already.

Part of this group is showing how my paint job ended up. then the trick... ;)

Next will be a tip anyone can do for picture taking of night scenes of your city.
Soon..., I want to build and shoot a small building for this one. 8-)

Holy story line...

You can drop hints in songs and stories of how the Lion of Valoria will always protect the city.

Then when they least expect it, the Lion can leap off its pedestal and attack the invaders! You get to help the PC's when they are about to be overwhelmed and the story gets a huge boon.

Alternatively, seedier elements of the population could be turning up dead with strange claw marks... Perhaps the Lion is championing the meek and protecting the citizenry whilst everyone is asleep. Can the PC's figure out hpw the bad guys are dying? What do they do once they know?

The statue is gorgeous, the story potential even more awesome!

Thanks guys, I just love sharing the ideas I see or come up with (I love seeing your ideas too). Kitenerd, you're always so good with story side of things, you must be a veracious reader. Great story line there, the Bronze Lion - Protector of Valoria. I was just thinking of a baddie, but a goodie works too.

Anyway -
TIP #2 - Adding PUNCH to the interior lighting of your buildings, when viewing from outside.
Paint the underside (CEILING) of the Floors and Roofs to relfect more light. I used Pokorny White and Pokorny Cardboard on the underside of Ceilings that might be exposed if viewed from below like a deck or balcony. As you will see in the photos I screwed up with one open area below two floors, one is white and the other is cardboard. Oops  This is a project anyone can do and with any type paint. These took two coats to look decent, but it's not really for viewing anyway.

Floor Ceilings - (Yes, some are modified, I'll get into those at a later date.)

Partial Roofs (Cut down ridgeline) still have metal plate inside for magnetics and reflection of light, no paint. I'll show these in use soon.

I've lied, I will be doing the signage post next. There is a reason I have to show this mod first and I will point it out as we go.

Edit - I would have posted pictures of these proccesses, but my computer died awhile back and I lost the photos. Remember to BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM...

Tip/Mod #3 - Shed, 1/2 Roof -

I wanted a way to cover a 40' (or wider) floor with something that would slope up to the next level. I've seen large roofs done with an upside down roof over two side by side then the final roof covers the one fliped upsidedown. What a waste of roofs. I also wanted to use the space upstairs, so I cut a roof down the ridge to cover the 10' area to each side of the upstairs.

When I removed the plastic plate set into the bottom of the roofs and 1/2 roofs I noticed the metal plates for the magnetics was just glued in place under the two roof planes. It's fairly easy to avoid the plates when only cutting down the ridge with an X-Acto or utility knife. To fit the new shed roof under the eave above, you will need to shave/cut down top the about 3/16" or so. Then it should slide under without picking up that side of the roof above it. The Gable End Walls are pretty thick, but just rock back and forth on them and it will work. Good Luck if you try.

I also cut Four Tudor walls and 2 Wood Floors in half to mix things up. I couldn't wait for the new CBS coming in the Castle KS and upcoming KS's. I needed the flexability in design. :geek:

I also made a half railing for other reasons,...

...but it fit here nicely.

Edit - "Yes, I trimmed four posts for just railings. I've got a serious problem here!"

On these two 1/2 roofs and one full roof I have removed the metal plates to cut those into hip pieces (I've not had the guts to try it yet, but I will get them done someday.)

There are a lot of wonderful mods here. I'd love to try some out myself. I did cut the corner off one of the floor tiles, but it kind of needs some custom walls with corners now :-)

I really like your corner posts with the 1/2 cut vee so that the posts look nice and square, and the vee is only needed for the railing.
