The magnets, though rare earth, are very small. They cannot hold much. Fine for a plastic mini. I doubt this would work with metal miniatures as the weight would be too much for them to stand upright on the magnet. A friend did something similar with both feet of his 3D printed mini and two 1/20th inch diameter magnets on the round base. That provides more stability. A 5 mm magnet would work with metal miniatures but could not be hidden in the shoe of a figure.

No.

In fact I used transparent bases to be more immersive especially with D3 sceneries.
(DF, Psominatures, Mini Worlds, Dungeonext, etc)

I recently used such tiny magnets on space crusade boardgame miniatures and their weapons. No more weapon broke inside the miniature itself.

I aslo started last week to insert some magnets into classic resin dungeon walls. I just have to match the color.
I haven dozen of accessories in metal that can

Do It Yourself Magnetic Bases for minis and tiles

Just thought I would post some DIY magnetic base miniatures and corresponding tiles. The magnets are MODIFX Rare Earth magnets, mostly 2mm and 3mm. I mostly use these for posing photos for the Facebook group page after the game as I have only made a limited number of the tiles and can't limit movement to just those tiles. During games we use various standard bases with Magnetic inserts.

I feel it gives the miniatures a more natural look than having huge bases which never match the ground they are standing on. Has anyone else tried something like this?
