So the walls are made of hardwood twigs I collected. Make sure they are dry and straight. I smoothed
them a bit and flattend parts so they fit together better using a band saw, hand tools would also work.
I glued them together using wood glue, pinning would have been stronger, but was not necessary. I shaped the ends to fit into the DF posts using a belt sander, you could also do it using a chisel or a file. I have a access to a wood shop, power tools are faster :)

Cheers from the troll

So Trollface, if you would not mind, what method did you use to hold the log walls together? A couple of vertical pins/dowels near the ends? Also what wood source did you use? Actual small branches from some hardwood trees? The overall effect is very cool and with the right end features allows it to blend into CBS construction very smoothly.

Wow, a complement from the old grand master. I am humbled. Thank you.
So where am I heading with all of this you might ask? Well medieval castles and towns
from the 9th-12th centuries were built more often of wood than stone. Apparently it wasn't until
after William had invaded England and secured his reign circa 1070 that the Normans started to build
stone structures, and these were major centers. Stone was not the norm until the 12th century. History lesson
over, I know this is fantasy.

For a lot of the setups I have in mind for my world, Anarchia, structures tend to be a more combinations of wood and stone, hence the use of oak twigs. I plan to make some palisade pieces that I can blend with the castle builder if I can ever afford it, and city builder sets I have. Here are some links to what I have in mind:

A reconstruction of a Bohemian medieval hill fort
http://www.archeologickyatlas.cz/en/lok ... ined&pid=1

Some Norman pallisades
http://users.trytel.com/~tristan/towns/ ... def06.html

And a reconstuction of medieval Kiev
http://parkkyivrus.com/en/

These are just some examples. I do have a question, is there a source for the metal pegs for the posts in city builder? I am working on some of my own posts , eg log corners and pillars. I want them to be DF compatible.
And no, no sales planned. This is my hobby ;)

I would like to see the next Kickstarter that addresses CBS - also address castles. There could be so many interesting combo pieces to merge the two together. Gate House without the drawbridge connecting to a manor, Small towers connected to a house, a windmill upgrade to the towers, etc.

Peace

I really would like to see some CBS stuff that would give a Mediterranean feel. I am not sure how that intersects with Valoria, but it would be great for gaming in a mythological Greek and Roman setting. We already have the tiled roofs, stone floors, etc. Just need fully stuccoed posts and walls.

+37 to KSVII being CBS and or Castles - preferably both - so much potential as the mods show

It would be very nice to have more variations in the posts, a tutor Advanced builder, and maybe even some alternate wall styles for Roman style buildings to match those Pompeiian streets.
That does sound like nice additions to CBS
