Great mods and well done.

I am torn about what I want for KS7. I really want expansions to Cities and Castles... but I also want some outdoor stuff and expansions to mountains.

I am hoping for cities for KSVII, though cities and castles could work well together.
We don't think Castles extras would be enough for any future KS but CBS has a huge amount of possibilities as this thread shows.

Hoping that KSVII is CBS with a some castle flavours ;)

Oy, for some reason the finished roof was not attached:

Damn boards ate my original post... :evil:
What I wanted to say was:
THIS! This is exactly the kind of thing we need to continue the expansion of the CBS line. Maybe even a thatch style sides (I could use them inside my castles)? I like the shingle idea too. Keep 'em comin' people...maybe we can get some kind of a castle/CBS expansion for KS 7...

Looks awesome! And that style really goes well with the stone bottom. I will have to make a couple of those!

They do make great dormers!
It was the "silly" that set me off. I see it over and over and it appears that some folk don't appreciate the piece for what it was intended.
Anyway. Enough of that.

Thanks for the links!

Oh, and yeah, I know what the "assassins perch" is for, but making them into little dormers, I can get double duty out of them.
Agreed they are useful for putting mini's on the roof.

would that I were so smart to think of this, but here is a link to the tutorial, I sort of followed.
http://ryan.skow.org/city/greentree/ThatchedRoof.html

Basically, you take strips ~ 3cm wide, of an old towel and glue them overlapping across a piece of cardboard. Cover with scenic glue, you can probably use thinned white glue.
Prime, and then paint. There is a bit more to it, but that is the gist.

And here is a nice discussion of different methods:

Your mention of the "silly assassin's perch" stuck a nerve... so i need to get this out of my system.

<complaint>
The "Assassin's Perch" was the name they chose (because it sounds cool?) to give the piece that was created for doing rooftop encounters. It is a magnetic stand for miniatures to stand on when they are on a roof top. They make it easy to put the minis involved where they are supposed to be. Rooftop chases, battles up high, and yes, the occasional assassin in waiting. It is unfortunate that so many people think of it only as a place to put an assassin and therefor "silly" or useless.
</complaint>

Sorry about that. It truly is a useful piece.

Back to the subject at hand...

I really like the roofs. That thatch roof is amazing!! Please share the process?

That looks pretty good, but I am not sure if I understand how you made it well.

The purple is a towel?
