At least you knew how badass everything is... Think the government should hire you to guard secrets....GriffinTamer wrote:Yeah, I think y'all are going to love these terrain pieces. A lot of thought went into making them as versatile and variable as possible. Grids are there, but subtle enough not to impinge on the naturalism.
Personally I'm champing at the bit for these. In some ways it's even worse when you are the one who sculpts a piece, and then you still can't have it for your games for a whole year...

So William... You ready to let me buy some of your Basalt columns.... ;-DWilliam wrote:I beg to differ, but they have from 3 to ? depending on the type of basalt.GODofwar wrote: Nah. Basalt has six distinct sides.
Usually 5 or 6 sides, but it is pretty varied from place to place.
So, I leave it to you to decide.

Just say no to grids
Some of us use DF for games that don't require grids.
The elevation blocks are very useful.I am glad to see more. The new blocks will work well for a lone watchtower. I hope to see some winding stairs.
jchunick, the 4 bot molds will give you some options you will not have with the Hirst hex molds. I am going to stop by my local Smooth-on dealer and check on casting with expanding foam for a large project. I plan on using the Woodland Scenic rock molds.
The new rock elevations will give us some options for dungeons under the city and towers we would not have otherwise.

I think you've misread what I wrote. I wasn't saying the DF stuff is hexes. I had just been thinking, at the time, of building some basalt columns with the Hirst Arts hex molds, and then seeing a video they did building irregular-edged hills and really liked the hills. I was going to get those molds and then Nate sent me photos of the mockups of hills and the mountain with those great pieces (you see in the teaser) that make it look irregular with no straight edges. That's what got me very excited.GODofwar wrote:jchunick wrote:This is a very nice set. I'm very excited about it... as soon as I saw the mockup I said, "Yup. Without question we have to have this!" I was thinking about the exact thing as FelixDraconis... in fact, I was just starting to look at alternatives - namely, Hirst Arts hex molds and had been watching a video of some nice organic builds with them. Then Nate posts pics of the mockups and I thought, "Damn, I was just considering building some! Perfect timing!"
Darn it Josh, I just opined those were NOT basalt nex columns!
