Thank youl, Bun Rab'. The ork flyers you had in the recent posts were marvelous. Wish I could paint.

But with a little thought and watching and reading a shed load of tutorials I can paint to an acceptable level (I think)
.....

I need to plan my painting better - still takes a long time to paint a few minis, but doing basecoat wash and highlight/drybrush you get a decent tabletop mini.

Have you considered using Army Builder primers? I find it magnificent for speeding up mass painting. So many colors now. Proper arrangment of pieces gets very little waste. I can't paint, espeically shading, but Army Builder works for me! I bet I cut paint time in half....even at my sad standard that's good. BTW, especially at 15mm, I don't dip and shake; I thin it a bit and use a brush.

Too bad about AQMF...hoped for some advice, VSF next weekend!

I tend to want to use too many colours for realism but in reality you don't need many to look effective.
Been experimenting with Army Painter Quickshade dip and found the results acceptable - still trying different sealant sprays to dull the gloss down from the Quickshade and decided that dipping leaves too much on the mini - better to use a brush.

and basically practice makes better :) not necessarily perfect.

Not managed to do anything with AQMF - thought up some more mods for my Orkanaut Deffship - BFO Engines!
Bloody imagination!!!!!

Yah, VSF actually beats FRP for imaginative possibliites, I think!

Did you ever get the AQMF 15's done? How about some pix? I have a Victorian SF campaign that just moved to Mars and am thinking about buying some AQMF.

TLW
No not yet got distracted by an Ork Stompa and converting an Arkanaut Ironclad into an Orkanaut Deffship.

Might see about putting them together with a quick undercoat and gets some pics done over the coming weekends - will keep you posted :)

I still cant paint to how I want.

I only started painting Christmas 2016 - so just over a year.

Not got onto Airbrushing and where I paint don't lend itself to air brushing so that will probably not happen soon.

Thank you :)

But 15mm too small for these bunnies and far too fiddly to paint.

I'd like to see 15mm figures on some Crenellated/Battlemented walls and towers to see if they look credible.
I run a standing step behind the walls for the 15's to stand on. IT isnt' perfect - ecven the CBS doors are too big - but a 4x factor in available area makes it worthwhile.

TLW
Always like the scale of battles that 15mm would allow for, its the fiddly painting that puts me off, its difficult enough to paint 28mm to an acceptable standard.

Though I have got a set of 'All Quiet on the Martian Front' to paint and play with my son, hopefully get them done over Christmas after my Mausoleum is completed and I repel my sons Skellies in our next battle.

Got any pictures TLW ?

Wonderful build, thanks for posting it. It looks huge, and even with lots of open space it looks natural, not sparse. I love the sunlight on the pic with the knights coming in from the bottom edge... very lifelike.

And, you've sold me on the neoprene 6x4 mat... the texture is much more natural than the few vinyl ones I have. I don't recommend them - the shine and fibrous grid texture is too apparent.
The mat however is not neoprene, it is in fact vinyl!
I have a bunch of different mats, I have a thin neoprene urban mat but found it shed when rubbed against, hoping that when I finally paint it a seal it, it will be more robust.
Thanks for the correction... it looks really good for vinyl. I have some Game Matz vinyl mats, and the ribbed texture is a little to apparent when light shines on it. They're good graphically, and well made though. Good to know about the neoprene mats!
To be fair I think most neoprene mats would be thicker than the one I have and once painted and sealed I am confident mine will be fine - just need to find the time ;)

Totally awesome cemetery! Is there a story behind the Maltese Cross on the main gates?
It is, I gather, the Imperial Cross or Cross of Sigmar - but yeah basically its a Maltese Cross.

Cant say enough good things about GW's Mausoleum, its easy to build and paint (I can do it!), has lots of good detail and there is a lot of it :)

Reposted my flickr link to the Mausoleum and to reiterate it generally only shows half of what can be built

Thanks fnor :) I currently use my phone to take pictures as it automatically uploads my photos to my laptop making it easier to post them, there are a lot of blurry ones as keeping it still is always a challenge. Was pleased with that shot though :)
Still need to set my DSLR to take good 'infocus' pictures.

The build covered approx 6x4 feet with the walls and town covering around 4x4

The vinyl one in the pictures is a good one as long as you don't crease it hard. Love its colouring and it was bought as a general play mat when I need something less specialist than the other mats and boards I have.
Proved its worth with Castles especially the bigger heavier builds which require a totally flat surface.

Added bonus I was able to drag it up the table pulling this castle, walls and parapets along with it, giving me more room for the town and mausoleum (really need to plan my builds better).

Will try to find the manufacturer as it is well worth checking out :)

btw - just putting together the battle report of when the little bunnies and I waged total war on this setup to post soon :) .... be warned there are dead bodies everywhere...... or is that undead ....... or living dead .......
