I usually prime black, I tried painting directly over the base dwarvenite.

:o I matched the Master Maze caverns :o

Glidden diamond house paint sample Glazed Ginger with a Brook green light dry brush. About 10 minutes time.
I use a flat soft one inch brush to over brush the Glazed Ginger. I used a very light dry brush of Brook Green. It is almost white and a eggshell finish.

Don't use Simple Green unless you want the smell to stay for a long time (years).

I've just done a matching water tiles set myself and thought I'd share (not least for my own future reference since I used this post to remind myself what I did, hee):
Totally Gorgeous paint job - that's it - nothing else to say - awestruck

More pictures please ?

niggling to maybe get some unpainted in KSVI

You soak it in undiluted Simple Green overnight, then scrub it a bit, ideally with an old toothbrush (wear gloves!). The paint comes off and also it and your house smells vaguely of eucalyptus forever. :P

(ETA: oh and apparently overnight is too long! *reads Vegomatic's post above* I will try less time next time, as yes, the smell DOES linger.)

Soylent Green. No, wait, that's people... um... something green.... ah... google is my friend...
Simple Green is supposed to work pretty well. I have heard not to soak the pieces too long (like over night) as the smell from the cleaner tends to linger.

What do you use to strip it with? I think I caked paint too thickly on some of my castle walls, so I was thinking of stripping them and starting again...

I am dissatisfied with the dark tower sadly. :( It awaits warmer weather so I can take it outside and spray it with a matte finish to see if that fixes (the Pokorny black drybrush made it too glossy overall), and if not it will be getting stripped and redone.
If you are using acrylic paint then soaking in Denatured Alcohol works well. I know other people use other things.

I think some Testors Dull Coat (they call it Clear Coat now) should take the shine off. I know what you mean, that Pokorny black is very glossy. Your stuff looks great though.
