Sir Kalel the cool :)

Great paint jobs btw - too easy to miss those drooling over the terrain.

We did not got for interior details as we never really intended to use the interiors other than to place snipers etc and for DoD we picked the larger more open encounters Gorgon tiers, lava bridge and Temple.

But do like the details in the pictures really make them come alive.

That Clark Kent resemblance could have something to do with this being Sir Kalel, of House Krypton. He's from a "Justice League Greyhawk" set of minis I did about 6 or 7 years ago.

And, man, I am loving using the KS3 magnetic accessories with KS5. I got that stuff because it seemed amazingly useful and awesome - shelves on walls! But I found when KS3 shipped, I didn't use it that often for two big reasons:

1) I didn't use it because when I build cities I tend to neglect interior spaces. I find them a bit cumbersome to use or photograph, and honestly, it takes so long to set up and photograph a city layout, leaving out interiors is just a logical time saver.

2) I also found that I didn't go back and integrate KS3 into dungeons. The different core mechanic of the set, larger footprint and use of posts and sliding walls, made it clumsier for dungeon building IMO. It is a phenomenal mechanic for city building, but not so useful for dungeons. Add the color and style variation - different floor and wall looks plus blue-toned instead of grey - and it just was never tempting to build dungeons with KS3 magnetic walls.

So now - finally, those sets are really paying off! I'm super excited to take advantage and still learning how best to use them. But this tavern build was 100% the result of me wanting to finally make a tavern with mounted shelves. 😃

Lots of great details, both pre and post food ;)

The serving wench has some skills, not seen her spill a drop yet.
And a very heroic looking hero in there, looks like Clark Kent or Dirk the Daring.

I love it! Always loved your pics/setups/painted mini's! I really like seeing the magnetic bits from other sets used with the new magnetic wall pieces. (which reminds me, I still have to decide what colour my magnetic dragon head becomes).

Thanks, Law!

Gah! I forgot the food!

Went to pack it all up and immediately realized what I'd left out -- all that amazing FOOD! Before we had a mini dungeon for our mini dungeons, we had little tiny mugs of ale and bowls of bread to feed starving adventurers in our taverns. And I let mine go hungry.

So a quick set of follow-up pics with properly laden tables....

Where there's a bar, there's a fight.

The old guy with the beard looks pregnant. Mayhap a freakishly tall dwarf woman?

There you go again Law, making everything that's normal cool and new again. I love the idea of the "monster tavern" in the cleaned out dungeon. Maybe a few of the more tame / friendly monsters make their way up from the lower levels to share items and secrets or just get a drink. Great build!

I hate it when uninvited guests crash a dinner party...especially those with LARGE empty bellies!

Great set up and some gorgeous minis - i especially like the paint work on the wizard and the blue beholder - WOW!

You have to love the kind hearted ex adventurer who just lets the drunk sit on the throne because... well everyone deserves to feel that way sometimes and it might have been just what he needed at that moment - apparently not everyone uses wisdom as a dump stat ;)
