Yeah, seeing that post and others using the CBS parts alongside the castle pieces definitely influenced my purchase planning. :)

The gatehouse we built for our 'Harlech Castle was built using a lot of CBS and their equivalent KSIV walls.
The only Unique Castle pieces used were the Stone Advanced Builder, Large round Tower and small Round Tower sets and equivalent Tower Crenellations (also gate house (2) with drawbridge addon) and roof platforms to place the battlements on.

The pictures show the guts of it is mostly CBS

So you can easily build a CBS keep in your citadel and it will not look out of place :)

Not sure exactly how many you need for Citadel walls - depends on how many towers you use.
When I was pricing out the castles, Chuck sent me a detailed breakdown of what would be needed to bring a Citadel up to Royal Stronghold specs (minus the interior keep). I can get that info from that list.

The Stronghold is really what I'd like, but the ~$2k price tag is a bitter pill, especially since I still need KSVI and KSVII buys shortly. I think using the City Builder + Battlements pieces to make your own interior keep is a good alternative. Some of the keeps/castle I see made with City Builder parts are quite impressive.

Going by when Castles appeared in the Online shop I don't think you will see DoD items until after KSVI :(

But on the plus side you can get that Grand Citadel you have been eyeing up

Are your Wall battlements from KSIII ?
They are what we recommend to go ontop of Castle walls :)

Yes, those are the ones! I bought them to use for city/keep walls on top of my old resin narrow passages, along with the corner battlements to create some makeshift towers out of the city sets. They work well for that, I'm glad they will also work on the citadel walls (after buying a few more of course!).

During KSIII Stefan said the next KS was castles so we did not get many Wall battlements thinking they would be offered again in KSIV - which they were not (*sob)
We were not that impressed with the Crenelations in KSIV so hurriedly snapped those KSIII Wall Battlements where we could find them online.

Return of the Sith(uul)

Post by MrMorden » Tue Apr 24, 2018 9:39 am

Hey guys, here's my situation...

I have been a huge DF fan/buyer for decades, starting with the first Master Maze sets and I have a pretty big collection of the old resin. But I have been on a gaming hiatus for about five years, and of course missed all the best DF stuff ever made through the Kickstarters. So recently I have been back into gaming and making up for lost time, concentrating on City Builder and in the last three months or so I bought:

Capital City
Imperial Streets
Erinthor Mountains
River & Lake Set
Lava River & Lake Set (x2)
Stone Roofs
Deluxe Balconies
Door Add-On Pack
Stone Ruins
Tudor Ruins
Tower Battlements
Wall Battlements
Arch Walls
LED Torch Walls
LED Braziers
LED Lamp Posts (x2)
LED Chromatic Orbs

I just barely missed the Dungeons of Doom Kickstarter (gah!!!). I have about $1500-2000 I want to spend on those sets, and I'm just wondering if there is any idea when they will be available through the store. I know the pledges haven't even shipped yet, but I'm hoping I can start building some DoD goodness into my collection before having to drop a bunch of dough into the new cavern Kickstarter. I guess the delay will let me get into the Grand Citadel I've been eyeing...

Thanks!
